I don't know if this has been mentioned before but, in the next version if the new Tales of Valor units were to be added, what would happen to the players without the Tales of Valor expansion? I'm one of these people who decided not to buy the expansion, and I'm curious what would happen. Do we still get the new units and will the game still be fair?

Also kinda off topic but, to anyone who may have a clue, what happens to the people who did not buy Tales of Valor if the next CoH expansion comes out? Will we never get to have access to the expansion units/missions?

Everyone has the Tales of Valor units, its just a matter of unlocking them, technically modding gives anyone the ability to use player created units or Relic created units, the difference being that ToV units while being able to be used in EiRR would not be able to be used in any other Relic Online situation.

By the way.. I'm fairly sure about what I said just there.. Not 100%. I have no idea if there's actually some restrictive code disabling the use of ToV units from mods. But I doubt it would matter.. even if they were unusable we could copy the blueprints and make them our own.

We'll make restrictive code. Else we'll likely get in some trouble with Relic for technically offering 'warez' via mods. The Tales of Valor units are one of the sellings points of Tales of Valor, and offering them for free could get us in trouble.

Yeah, true enough. We've definitely got our work cut out for us as far as balance is concerned.

What are Axis going to get? Allies get four great new units, all with special advantages and abilities.
Axis get a fancy Bike, a fancy Ketten, a fancy P4, and the Geschutze.

Problem is, noone takes Kettens or P4s, and the bike doesn't need an replacement to do its job (hunting Snipers + scouting).
The Gunbucket might be cool to take as Wehr, but that's about it.  Undecided

Well.. if we didn't intend to balance them, we wouldn't be doing what's best for the community and the mod, now would we? ^^

It is unlikely we will have them be replacements. Expect Hotchkiss alongside Panzer IV Support Tanks.

Dafuq man, don't ask for proof if you'll refuse it if it's not in your favor, logic fallacy for the bloody win.

I'd rather have the new ToV units buried in a deep hole somewhere in Phil's backyard.

T17 is probably gonna be 7-8 popcap, so if you're taking 3 T17s, you're paying 21-24 pop just to field them, and you'll be enjoying no capping and just basic AT capabilities. You can't field an M10 with that.
Not to mention they're 175 HP, so they'll die to 1-2 pak shots(engine damage is very likely with the 1st shot, so it's rather equal to a death.)

What else...

Oh, it'll probably be capped at 3 availability, as far as my clairvoyance goes, and I'm not going to pay PPs for something that can get one shotted by panthers and insta-raped by paks - you do not hold all your eggs in one basket, and putting all 3 of such a vehicle in the start would be kind of doing exactly that - I doubt we'll see more than 1 T17 in any player's starting call-in. TBH, I don't think you'll see them much more often than you see vanilla greyhounds. They'll be a bit more useful than stuarts are, though, I guess.

Not to mention the MP and FU costs attached to them. 300 manpower seems like a standard cost for light vehicles - 900 MP and 150 FU seems a bit... well, not worth the effort for something as fail in the EiR enviroment as the t17.

Basicaly - it's a shitty cross between a greyhound and an ostwind, and the only reason it works in vCoH is the fact it comes on the field so early... Here it's late game all the game, so I don't see much of a future for the T17.

A mobile flak 88, on the other hand, in the form of a geschutzwagen is gonna be utter rape in EiR. Field 2 of them, and you'll kill a pershing before it'll get into range to fire back. No more need for paks if you get these babies - you have long ranged double shreks on wheels! :O. They can even ward off infantry assaults with the MG - should be a rather interesting sight to see. Only saving grace for the allied tanks is the Gwagen's poor penetration vs US tanks. 0.35 deflection modifier still means 87.5(base damage on P4 gun) worth of damage to the tanks, meh. Cromwells are gonna get it BAAAD though - 1.22 base penetration versus the poor thing Sad. It'll have a 1.7 percent chance to bounce the gwagen at long range. heh...

obviously, this is not vCoH.

You should not participate in discussions on the forums when you have no clue about having basic logic.

ToV units should either be included for everyone or excluded entirely. Relic doesn't need any more  reasons for "buy expansion = win button!"

Furthermore, the T17 rapes infantry. It's an ostwind mounted on a flak vierling attached to an M8 chassis with an "instantly defeat counter via stun" button taped to it.

The T17 inserted in the eir gameplay would suck, it would rape infantry but also die instantly to anything, ToV units don't suit eir gameplay.
