ya, they took away the only thing that made the m18 a viable replacement for the m10.. the m18s gun isnt as good as m10s, it has the same or slower speed than m10.. guess they think a 50cal or mines make it a viable unit.. meh.  give me the fastest tracked vehicle in game along with the same gun as m10 and i would be happy.. dont need cloak when you can attack and disengage at will.

It has nothing to do with that. The entire basis in vCoH of the M18 is the camouflage ambush. Everything else about it is distinctly worse than or at the very best equal to the M10. By removing the camo and not altering anything else, you create a suckmobile.

exactly.  The m10 is better in every respect for a very marginal cost increase.  There is literally no point in using the m18 without either a) giving it an ambush bonus, or B) reducing its cost further...

And.. can't the Hellcat buy Hawkins Mines? I swear I had those implemented.. maybe EIRRMOD forgot to put them in the launcher.
We'll be thinking about the Hellcat. It's price will probably be reduced so that players will be able to field it against Light Armour and Vehicles as a good support unit; sorta like a harder-hitting yet easier to hit Greyhound. We're going to wait until 2.600 before we do any more stat-changes.

I'm not sure if it can, but I don't think being able to buy mines (which costs extra resources, too) justifies the M18 to be such a shit addition. Imagine if the Munitions Halftrack had no ability whatsoever, and the only thing it could do was purchase mines and goliaths - nobody would use it. Now we have a shitty M10 that for a higher resource cost can lay a mine. Wow. Very balanced.

You don't have to buy it then. Better than having an ambush that 2-shots Panthers; in the EiRR environment, that'd be the ultimate vet-hunting and griefing tool.

As a Luftwaffe player, I don't intend to buy it... I rejoice when I see people using it, and quite a lot do seem to be using it, because they don't know the stats behind it I assume (and without mines - I've seen a ton of m18s but haven't hit a single mine since .006, of any type). Still; you have a vehicle that is inferior in EVERY WAY to another vehicle, but COSTS MORE (if you decide to purchase it's apparently redeeming factor, if not then it's only marginally less), and only has the ability to lay one-two mines to make up for this?

If you do give it ambush, don't make it so overpowered it's an amazing vethunting tool. It wouldn't be much better than a pak regardless - less range, but the ability to use it's slow but faster than pak speed to (try to) chase something down.

Just make ambush increase the penetration, not the damage, and it'll be fine.

The hawkins mine... Well, it only costs 20 munitions for a reason - it's basicaly worthless. Noone's gonna put down 10 popcap sitting near a semi-useless mine hoping that a panther MAY come down that road...

Other than that, the M18 is an awesome vehicle sniper - good range and good LOS, making sure the M18 can actualy kite down a P4. It lacks armor and penetration vs everything, but kills off light vehicles very well.

Yeah, the m18 has better sight range than the m10 so it can kite tanks that can't see it. The hawkins could be useful if it gets something lol.
 
also, the m18 is cheaper than the m10, so whoever said it was more expensive didn't check it out. It's even cheaper than the t17 and m8 so meh. Also cuz of the .50 cal is better vs infantry than the m10 but isn't as good at squishing infantry and because of its big bulk, trying to move around with this thing is a headache.

I was talking in terms of all resources involved; the M18 is costing you some of all resources (if you opt for the mine, which seems to be the argument to take it?) as opposed to only two resources.

T17 - 350 MP 90 FU
M18 - 270 MP 150 FU
M8 - 290 MP 50 FU.
M10 - 300 MP 170 FU

I fail to see how the M18 is cheaper than the T17 or the M8, tbh.
And frankly, the M18 costs "as much" as an M10 with a 50 cal.
