My friend and I can't get a game going. Every time one of use tries to join a game with the other we receive an error claiming that we have different versions or command line arguments.

However we both downloaded and installed the game today using the same installer. We both launched the game from the launcher with the same battle ID.

Any ideas?

Very strange.  My suggestion would be to try downloading again, both using this link:

Try downloading the battlefile then running the europe in ruins exe manually in the directory if it still doesnt work

I think some mods might interfere with EiR as well.
