OMG doesn't give +3 pop to attackers though, does it? I reckon that'll help.
(Although there's other ways we can address the potential overpowering advantage that is defending)

And yes, the Attack/Defend mechanic being fixed and becoming standard is FAST approaching  Cool

What are you going to do? Hardcode it into the game that defenders aren't allowed to move beyond the 75% point for 10 minutes? lol

Giving more advantages to attackers isn't prudent because beyond spawn rushing, defenders actually have the harder time against competent attackers.

Its pretty hilarious how I've become the new defender of a slower gameplay, but I'm open to both ideas, just like I always was open to both playing axis and allies. When I see gameplay and availability confining people to 1 choice, it upsets me because the pretense is that its supposed to be open and free. Right now the doctrine buffs are too tempting to avoid textbook spam companies, forcing people to get AAA BBB CCC companies instead of OILABDF companies. Instead the game should force them to make the best out of the units that their doctrine buffs, but still bring a variety of units because of restrictions against just buying 8 m10s or 25 riflemen.

Its a good example of the pool cost being unfair for a single calli, while having merit when you have three of them.




makes me think perhaps a sliding scale of some sort might be the trick?

Biggest problem with the pool system is the oversupply in the current late-war situation where everybody has way too many PPs to spend.

Also, it doesn't take a genius to mitigate the problem that is attacking defenders in A/D gamemode. Not to mention that a base 4 minute defense timer is pretty crazy.

This is unlikely, simply because EIR is a lot more vehicle based than OMG. (MUCH less MP and considerably more fuel). the gamemode has very little to do with it. You can play R+ or ME, camp down and have a 40 minute mortar war just as well.

and as for the rest of this argument, competent attackers will be able to solve whatever strategy is used against them, most particularly by proper scouting and callin management.  While I agree certain companies are definitely biased to ME/R+, it is also true other companies are very biased to atk/def.  Being able to handle all of these roles is something that very few company builds can do effectively smokaz, and guiding company builds down those very few paths is bad for the mod IMO.


EDIT: I personally think oversupply should be encouraged, as it leads to more fun companies.

Technically you should have enough unit variety and company differentiation within the pool system, oversupply just lets you DEFY the very 'soft' restrictions we put up. The pool system is there to address only excessive forms of spam (be it the spam of one unit or one type of units)

Though mind you that with the removal of oversupply we will also be adding a weapons cache which will allow unupgraded elite infantry to be used as mainline infantry (Obviously they're still more expensive on MP, but at least you won't HAVE to use for example primarily riflemen any more)
