Or just pay for the stuff you want, and never pay again...sorta like...every other game.

ummmmmmmm no? 90% of games since the start of gaming industry were bought in a shop and then you had the same content as other people.

And that style of market is going away, it's far more profitable for a company to do F2P, it also has a much lower investment required allowing more small companies to publish their own games.
F2P is the future of the gaming industry.
Don't want to continue to pay but want to be on equal footing? Pay $45, use in game cash to get whatever you want, done. No more spending. In games like HoN and LoL you don't gain anything by spending other than a broader selection of characters that are just as good as the free characters for that week. Better than spending $60 on a game, using 50% of the content, and then paying for DLC.

Do what I do - Happily play, but never pay, in any MT model game.
Hicks, you are displaying common sense here. I agree with you that not paying is a good solution. However from my experiences with COHO and HON and other mmorpgs, there's always a definitive disadvantage against the morons who will pay for +5 flaming sword of dolphin. I prefer gaming contests where economic ability doesn't affect your chances of "winning".

Personally, I find my victories all the more sweeter against clowns who pay for their "Enhanced" equipment.

I mean I know Obama was the first one in EiR to get a card. and tbfh the Race card is pretty OP. but Romney has the K.K.K., those guys seem to camo anywhere. So OP units from both sides.
At the end of the day, however, stormtroopers finally got the anal invasion with a cactus they have richly deserved for years.

Dont really give a shit, but did note tons of arguments regarding competitive play and the effect of early access to heroes.

Our souls are already sold to the higher overlords of our lesser realm so what's so bad about bending over a little more Smokaz?

There are lots of things in HoN that are removed from Competitive play. If you host in Tournament mode all mods are disabled and any Early access heros are too.

COHO and HON are terrible examples since paying money in those games doesn't give you any advantage at all.

Sharks are not monsters Henley, they are cute, cuddly and misunderstood. They love humans. sometimes they love TOO much. They love people so much that sometimes their kisses separate people into two flailing pieces which are consumed by other sharks in a frenzy of peace and joy.

Hon was $10 flat fee at one point.(briefly before Free to play) Heck it was $30 for most of it's life time and I definitely got my money out of it.
Me and my friends play it everynight.
