Hmmmm, am I kinda lucky that crysis runs with my exact PC combination so good, or do i have a "5% of the population" PC with a 3ghz Pentium-IV ??

Couldnt try on higher resolutions though because my flat only shows 1280x1024 but it runs with settings on the highest detail and 16xQ Anti-aliasing without problems (even while driving/flying) what really surprised me as it is an EA game which normally suck hard in terms of engine efficency.

My graphics card is down to a price of 116€ now in germany, I would never get a console for 400 (never get a console anyway) bucks to have the same graphic on a system that doesnt allow for any variation.

Allthough i agree that soccer (sport) games are way better on a console because of the feel of it, still, not a reason to buy one for me (thats what you have friends with too much money for  Cheesy )

btw what was this thread started with, I didnt bother to check  Grin

Hahaha! WHAT?!

Sorry, my friend, but I work at the local gamestop. The number of crashes and breakdowns from Xbox360s and PS3s is QUITE numerous.

Heck, xbox360's seem to crash more than PC does! At least my PC hasn't fried itself and I had to send it off to a factory before due to shoddy workmanship.

Hard drive corruption, freezes and crashes are all part of consoles, whether you choose to believe it or not.

i never said i dont believe there are crashes. first series of 360 had major issues with the Ring of Death. Doesnt change the Fact mine hasnt crashed in, 7 or something Months i had it.
Same with Vista. Colleague here at work has been running it for roughly the same time as me and he only had 1 crash during that time. i had 3 bluescreens only in the last 3 days.

Personally though, my $600 PC I built plays most stuff on high graphics that has come out and I just got a new graphics card on the way that should really bump things up. Yeah, with consoles you have the ease of something designed specifically for gaming, but I always want more than that.

I want to do other stuff while gaming, I want mod-ability and I want games built around mouse and keyboard!

all just and well but lets face it, if you want modding and keyboard and mouse your not gonna buy a console for that.
on the other hand. if you want something thats easily accesible, where you dont have to fuck around to get things to run and like the kind of gameplay console games offer, why go for a pc ?

Gah, looks at CoD4 for consoles. 16 player max servers or something? Most of the game modes involves really small numbers. Not to mention the servers aren't as customizable/mod-able.

i have CoD4 , for the PC, i never dreamed off getting that for the 360.
nonetheless i still enjoy CoD4 and its various modes more on smaller servers then with 50 people running around where 3/4 of the time you die and dunno what the hell just hit you. small numbers work in CoD due to stuff like Last Man Standing or Search and Destroy.
only fps i ever felt comfortable with on a console was the original Halo tough.

Really? I find the Tom Clancy games to feel comfortable on the console, considering their designed for it and the control setup is so console friendly.

i really prefer any kind of action or racing game on my Xbox 360, that includes gears of war, CoD 4, and all the GTA games.

I can pick up a mouse and keyboard or a controller for action games, there is not a lot of difference, but i do prefer the controller.

In FPS's on the PC my left hand gets so stiff -  mainly my little finger because it is at an odd angle above the Ctrl button.

Well, just my comments about the PC>Xbox360 debate.

Personally I think the whole "xbox360 is so much cheaper" is little bit of a illusion.
Well for starters, HD. When someone say's his PC rig cost lets say, 1600$, normally that includes the PC, speakers, monitor, mouse and keyboard.

1. To play a xbox360 well you really do need a HDTV, when I a friend lent me his xbox360, I didn't (and still don't have) a HDTV, I had to squint my eyes to read the text messages in games like Assasin's Creed and Dead Rising, it was quite painful.

A "HD" monitor is lets say, 250$? (24 inch), a HDTV is what, 1,000$?
To get a comparable visual result on a xbox360 like one on a PC, you have to pay a extra 1000 dollars.

2. Game prices, a xbox360 game costs 10$ more, and sometimes even 20$, by the time you have bought 40 games (which is reasonable for a hardcore gamer) you have spent as much extra money on games as that of the console itself.

Inability to upgrade. So yeah, I spend a huge amount of money on my PC for it to be up to date. But then, I can use it for one million things you cannot use a console for, and it last's about as long as a console does. But, after it starts getting dated, I can just upgrade some of the key components, and voala, for less than the price of a console I have a updated PC again.

And the PC I currently am, only cost me 250 bucks (granted, on ebay, but there is no way you can find a xbox360 selling for 250 on ebay). And guess what, I can play Gears of War and it almost looks as good as it does in the 360, as well as design, program, chat on forums, use internet, and all other sorts of stuff.

And man, Gears of War on the PC is so much easier than on the console.

the Point about the TV is kinda invalid. Sooner or later you will switch to HD, xbox or not.
i had bought my HD-TV a couple of months before i got the 360 so i cant really say if its that much worse on a normal tv but ill just assume it is.

true, however in return you get a game that will, with 100% certainty, run smoothly on your console.
is that worth it ? i dunno, i had my old xbox for 4 years and only had 20 games in total. and the price difference mostly applies to games that have just been released.
the only game i bought for my 360 at full price was Lost Odyssey(67€) all the others were allready reduced(gears of war, dead rising, Testdrive Unlimited, Mass Effect) for 45€ or less.

as i said before, were not talking about other stuff you can do with a PC.
if i want office i wont buy a console and if i only wanna play action oriented games i wont buy a PC just for that.
the upgrade point is kinda ridiculous. you dont have to upgrade a console, thats one of the big plus points. an xbox 360 is an xbox 360, there are no different gfx-cards or CPUs. if a game is released for the 360 you dont have to think about stuff like "will i need more ram to run smoothly, will my gfx card be able to run it on full" ? its made for the 360 and it runs smoothly on a 360.

actually, as i pointed out before, you can buy it in a store for ~280€. and ebay is allways a thing of luck, might get it cheap, might not.
and about the gears of war part...screenshot or it didnt happen...

as well as design, program, chat on forums, use internet, and all other sorts of stuff.

again, not the point. somebody who buys a console doesnt want that in the first place or he wouldnt have bought a console.

OWNED fainbois! OWNED!

Besides, on the PC you get CRYSIS! And Crysis runs insanely well! I'm a crymod mapper (I'm known for Revelations, a horribly delayed thing...) and YOU CAN'T DO THAT ON XBOX!

Sooner or later the 8800GTX will be so obsolete that every PC on earth will have it or something better than it. Just because eventually HD will become the standard is entirely irrelevant to what it cost's now on the xbox360 to have a good gaming experience. According to your logic I could also discount the 500$ the 8800GTX costs on a machine, well if I can discount every single item in the machine that will eventually become a industry standard, then my PC costs about 4 bucks.

Hmm, I might pick up GTA1 if I can... somehow.

Once 8800 is no longer a light-year figure to purchase I shall own it, until then the 8500GT will work for me.

Well this thread is completely derailed, thanks guys I appreciate it. I think I am going to lock it until Akra can hopefully clean it for me.

Delete it all they way back to the first post (which I am editing with people who are interested in playing GTs and PSN names.

If you want to have a PC vs Console bitch fest make a new thread.

We should start preordering games from GameStop.

I've played GTA3 and GTA Vice City and I never really found them that fun. It's just not my cup of tea. I mean, it's great running around and chainsawing people, but that gets boring within the hour. Violence and gore is great and all, but it's really only eye candy.
