I don't like spotters for off maps unless they can't be killed other wise it would just be retarded. Keep in mind that off maps are doctrine unlocks, and I do not have a problem with them. The only time it became problematic was when you could have 5 earth shakers and 5 mortar saturation barrages. Since you can't do that anymore I don't see a problem with off maps. I also don't see the problem with straffing run. It punishes blobs and should not be nerfed.

Funny thing is, everyone HAS been bitching about this since pretty much when the strafe came to exist. Both in vCoH, and in EiR.

A near-instant undodgeable offmap that comes out of nowhere and instantly owns all inf? No, noone's ever complained about that before.

MGallun, it has nothing to do with blobs. It has to do with the fact that there is NOTHING you can do to avoid it, so one squad is absolutely instantly dead. And because you can draw a line between Squad A and Squad B, it doesn't matter if they're in two separate pieces of cover 10 metres apart - they'll still be hit. So usually two squads instantly dead. But even if it were just one, that would still be overpowered, because there shouldn't BE unavoidable offmaps.
Jodomar, Offmaps being doctrine unlocks is a point against them more than anything. In all the doctrines, unlocking a unit is not giving you a superior unit to something else, and generally whenever it is it's because it's OP and needs to be fixed. They generally speaking just spice your company up with more interesting and flavorful units. With offmaps... you get them for free and it's a straight improvement to your company. Why use a PaK40 when a PaK38's just as good, only in different ways, and you can have offmaps added to your company for free instead?
Killer344, I mean among the public, not the elites that operate in the shadows.

Err.. ab rifles didnt remove the neccessity of using Fuel-Units for AI.. it just removed all use of regular rifles and to some degree, flamethrower engies. In airborne companies you will see the odd flame engineer, but regular rifles are nothing but unupgraded sucide fodder in a AB company. At least it seems to be the general rule.
The consensus is that "rifles are too poor at this job" but you certainly get what you pay for within the confines of your doctrine. Rifles are OK. They wont stand up to buffed shit, but then you pick your fights with units in EIRR you don't send your m3 halftrack against a 50mm and go "WHAT A WASTE OF 25 FUEL" when it dies.
Which partially could have been rectified by Airborne Doctrine giving paradrop to regular rifles and engineers. People are not against using rifles, it's a question of investment. If you can get away with using rifles for a job - for example, dropping a rifleman squad to sticky or satchel a repairing tank they'd rather do that than send a expensive airborne squad, netting them a 110MP saved if we assume squad is not going to be able to accomplish anything more but the job/situation is forgiving enough to use a simple rifle without fireup or extra survivability.
Secondly, a vet 2 sticky rifle is just something you'd want in any american company anyways.
It would be buff to AB company variety if they were allowed to paradrop rifles. Perhaps satchels would make it to easy to distrupt repairs, but that way you could at least bring a meatshield with your AB infantry. It's not always ideal to move in with ab first against possible supression, even if you have fireup. Don't wanna waste it.
All it would take to ensure popularity was one of the usual "AB SPAM" T4's to give a decent buff to rifles in addition to its b and people would use rifles with ab. Armor buffs rifles, it's a core unit why isn't AB taking notice of the riflemen?

My whole airbourne company is pretty much airbourne except for the 2 flamethrower engies, croc sherman and 4 shermans i think. Rest of it is Airbourne and Airbourne Riflemen airdropped AT guns all of it
Although there pool cost really limits you on the amount. I must have at least 8 i think. They do there job sometimes. I do agree with smokaz a Tier 4 buff would be nice

If I get shot and it's a gay medic fixing me up, he's not gonna be fondling my balls while he does it. You can't patch a chest wound and suck a cock at the same time.
