Bounced shots still deal damage. So far as I can tell, it was luck that let me kill the P4s. Both were at 5% or less HP. When the GMC hits a tank, it does about 1/20th damage to it. Aka, jack shit.
The GMC used a higher velocity French 75mm artillery cannon from WW1, with better armor penetration than the M3 75mm that the Sherman used. The GMC was used as a TD up until 1943 when the M10 replaced it. So, actually, the GMC did penetrate P4s quite easily in Tunisia.
