I've always noticed that there is more axis vet inf than allied and I thought that maybe this could be a significant factor
(in addition to others, I'm not saying its the only reason)

A riflesqaud, volks and grens all give 1xp per man
that means a riflesqud killed gives 2 more xp than grens and 1 more than volks.

Over time that 1 xp multiplied by 6 rifles and 10 games is 60xp
So to balnce this small thing it would be to make grens give 1.25xp (i know its getting stupid now) and volk to give 1.20 xp
simply reduce riflemen vet requirements to match wouldn't fix the axis getting a little more xp every time on all their units.

volks shouldn't be more, volks are worth less than rifles.

Volks are being underestimated then.

he wasnt being naughty was he? his first post seemed ok..

anyways, always wondered how much xp my fileman get for killing infantry etc..   i use all my infantry to kill other infantry, support units etc, i dont bother with armor, no stickys at all so ya, its taking forever to fill up the xp on my rifles, i have 7 rifles who have been in all 6 games, they range from 25xp to 10 xp.. all infantry only kills.. so ya, it will take a bit before they get vetted up.

Volks should stay at 1.0 while Grens could indeed give a 1.25 modifier. Good idea man!

I honestly have no idea if this will actually work. There's never been a fractional xp gain on any unit. We can try it though.

yeah thats why the backup idea was reduce rifleman vet requirements to compensate but it doesn't cover tanks etc.

option 3 is multiply ALL vet on everything by 10  or 100 to avoid decimals.

I believe one of my Shermans once claimed it had 19.5 XP. Maybe a bug or something, either way, that company is wiped now Sad if there are records of it, you could look. I would have taken a screen shot if I had known this would come up. Either way, the easiest thing to do is to just the veterency requirements on the allied units. Give the axis units higher requirements and you can balance it on a unit by unit basis.

Grenadiers already give 2 exp, volksgrenadiers and PzGrens give 1 exp.
It's to do with riflemen killing power and their poor survivability, rather than the few axis targets Wink.

are you sure grens give 2xp?

then storms and knights cross should give 3 not 2

Stormtroopers give 2.5, so it is possible.

sweet.

actually, there's more vetted axis infantry because of their high survivability + their high weapon strengths so they can kill more. Also, grens have schrecks, which can take out tanks, which gives more xp. (most tanks give 10) so if you have a schreck squad take out 2 tanks, that's easily vet 2, 2 or 3 more tanks and boom vet 3, not so hard. On the other hand, rifles mainly just damage tanks and dont take them out and you see a lot of high vet rangers because of killing tanks same as grens.

Now...as to the fact that there's a lot of vet axis infantry, look at the grenadier vet list, look how many vet 3 and vet 2. There are 30 yes 30 vet 3 grens and 20 on that list that are vet 2, lord knows how many of them there are reallly.

To compare to allies

9 rifles are vet 3
12 rangers
4 ab

so basically, there are more vet 3 grens by themselves than there are for the three main allied infantry, something is seriously wrong there.

brits ditto

9 commandos
1 piat commando
8 tommies
2 recon tommies

i dont think i need say more, grenadiers need their vet requirement raised.

We could always restrict the purchase of the LMG to 1. They'd kill a metric ton less than they do.
