Retreating support weapon teams off map

Sometimes I tell my support weapon teams to abandon their guns and they just sit there like a bunch of idiots (this happens ecspecially often with AT guns). This gets pretty frustrating when the buggers have some veterancy on them. Any idea what causes this bug, and how to avoid it?

might just be the bug where you can still see the crew, but the retreating guy is invisible?

I get that sometimes too, but in this last game they died. I dunno, armored cars were everywhere, maybe the they just weren't fast enough?
