Hey, since one of the strongest and most prevalent complaints about allies is that they are not cool enough, why not add some allied heroic units? Axis have cool unit concepts in king tigers, aces, kch, officers etc. There are plenty of skins and similar stuff we could use from the COH campaigns to make some allied units that stand out a bit. Yes I know that part of the allied concept is their SPAMFACTOR, but I dont see why this needs to stand in the way of spicing up the allied attractiveness to players. This is a persistant mod, special units that you raise and love is consistent with a lot of axis options, but not allied.

Since axis are so tank based, why not make some heroic allied infantry units? They could have a special skin from campaign, slightly beefed up stats and a availability of 1 and perhaps mixed up audio cues.

Infantry doctrine - Gets a "Baker" Riflesquad with more health, 3 bars and a recharging sticky ability for free - 280MP/110 munitions
Airborne - Gets a Charlie Airborne squad with 2 RRs and 4 thompsons, 300/250
Armor - Gets a Jumbo Sherman Crew, more health and better penetration 450/300

Just some ideas, which I have thrown out. I think adding some glossy glamour units to allies might turn into a "blockbuster" for in terms of interest from allied players.

I also read this comic when I was a kid about this heroic Stuart Crew who was protected by somekind of civil war american general (his ghost) and made it out of some seriously sticky situations. Maybe this could be an idea for a british heroic unit?

Do you mean this comic series? A tank blessed by Alexander the Great...is awesome.

I dont see how any of these units are over the top except maybe the airborne one, they just give more personality and uniqueness to the american/allied side. And yes that comic was exactly the one i was thinking about. good find

Yeeayeayeyaya

Here's this idea I've been having lately, a Tank Guard squad. They are like Riflemen but they come with 5 guys, 3 have thompson SMG, one has an RR and one has a sniper rifle. They have stealth detection and they can be turned into spotters (increased sight) but they move slower while doing so (like vcoh Brits)

Why not Sniper/spotter team, same cost as normal Sniper, 4 men, all with sniper guns, can cloak in cover, can hold fire, can call in artillery, and can kill tank drivers through the hatch (ability should be on 30 second cooldown/tank should stand still and only shoot).

Heroic armour and should have fireup, give them increased health reg(like captain) at Vet1.
Availability mhh, could be 4. Only 3 pop and they sprint when they go and have highly reduced incoming accuracy (maybe only 0.25% of airbornes) so they won't get counter sniped easily.

Make them nondoctrinal or if you have to a T1(for all doctrines though).

I second this idea.  It should replace the t17 as the default unit for Armor Doc.

Useless comment that points to extreme axis fanboyism and never actualy attempting to read the OP, or playing as the Royal Commando doctrine.

American Tanks:

M36 Jackson

You know what this is. A slower M10 with a 90mm gun.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M36_Jackson

M4A3E2

Better known as the Jumbo Sherman. Everyone knows what this is, it's a Sherman with a 75mm gun and enough armor to throw off one or two 75mm KwK 40 projectiles.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M4_Sherman

M25A1 (T25A1)

I don't think anyone here knows what this is. Before D-day, Ordnance created 300 experimental Shermans armed with a 90mm M3 gun, with Panther-thickness armor. Logistics and the M26 Pershing kept it from being adopted. Overpowered for obvious reasons, especially with Flank Speed. Good luck finding it on the Internet, it took me forever to find even two references to it.

http://www.armchairgeneral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=76756&page=3

http://www.ww2f.com/wwii-general/10451-m4-sherman.html

British Tanks:

Canal Defense Light

I've brought this up in the OMG forums, but they didn't adopt it, so I'll bring it over here too. It's a Churchill Mk. 1 with a searchlight mounted on it that was supposed to blind/dazzle/debuff enemy troops/tanks during D-day. The Matilda and M3 Grant variants were more common, but we don't have those models in-game.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canal_Defence_Light

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hobart%27s_Funnies

M3 Stuart

Just give it a 2-second-duration Commando smoke ability or something to temporarily throw off enemy targeting. Or give it Light AT Halftrack abilities like Treadbreaker or Focused Firing.

I don't know many realistic unit ideas, though.
