Armor Company does not need better infantry. That's why it's called Armor Company, not Armor and Infantry Together Forever Company.

lol!

id imagine shotguns would be like tommy smg. excels at close range, is somewhat effective at short-mid range. would deal damage to multiple targets rather then just one at a time which would be interesting.

either way id doubt we would see it implemented.

I was thinking maybe there would be a way to skin an M1897 Trench Shotgun for the Americans for some nice close combat capabilities. Perhaps allow it to be unlocked for the Armor doctrine since it is kinda lacking?

Discuss and no flaming.

Sappers needed piat ambush cause the old piats were crap.

The new piats are awesome... so I dunno if they need it anymore.  Maybe make it a purchaseable upgrade?

New PIATs also underwent a DOUBLE nerf after being made awesome, they don't need to be nerfed again.
Then how about give it to some other American doctrine....maybe make it droppable too?

How about no, because it's imposible to implement?

I am sure they can find a way. BTW, there is no need for an attitude;  if you think there is no way to implement this then don't comment on this thread.

I meant impossible in a manner that is not borked for a persistency mod.
Adding in a new weapon such as a shotgun would be eternaly hard to balance - either it would gib like a stuart gun, or it would do pretty much nothing - and that would be due to it's nature of firing loads of small bullets that are all either hit or miss. It would be OP with one shot, UP with the second, hit the sky with the third - and that's without the devs changing a thing - in one, single skirmish of volks vs rifles with a shottie.

i see your point, the shot-gun has always been tricky for most games.

Shotgun in game will be very hard to balance as well.

The only way to really balance a shotgun is to have it in a realistic FPS.

We are serious about enforcing this, and I am sure you all want to be able to have your balance thought considered by the development team with some biased, sensationalist coming into your thread and ruining it.

i dont think it'd be that long to do. It'd have a pretty good cooldown, about as long as the k98 and a long reload time because you have to put in all the shells individually. It'd be pretty much worthless past I'd say 10-15 cells but up close it'd be awesome, and it'd be a great house clearing weapon

Dafuq man, don't ask for proof if you'll refuse it if it's not in your favor, logic fallacy for the bloody win.

The k98 has a 0.8 second cooldown at close range, FYI.
It actualy has a way better cooldown than the M1 carbine and garand. WAY better - it's only the wind-down on it that prevents the M1s from getting utterly destroyed.

Not saying it should.

But if it went in, it surely would not need individual pellets coding, just a decent damage, with a tiny (like 2 men shoulder to shoulder) area for splash.

It would be useless for clearing buildings, because for a shotgun to be GOOD at that, you have to be inside, COH doesn't have that, so it would be absolutely crap at clearing buildings from the outside.

The other way would be to have old style hunting shotguns/rifles, with slugs, in which case no splash and heavy singlepoint damage. High reload after every shot, and unable to fire while moving, would be used as a shock troop, run up behind (at your desired range) shoot, back off, reload.

If on sappers, cloak, hold fire, wait for enemy to get in optimal range, bang. (in which case they would probably die, as takes too long to reload.)

Not a good idea gameplay wise imo, just something cool for the kids.

I heard it's called a sniper in CoH Tongue.

well you could give armour a shotgun purchase on thei rifles for a T1.
just make it a garand that fires a mini canister shot with reduced damage.
