Copying it over from the WoW thread.
Quote
This right here shows that you know nothing about what you're saying in terms of the current EvE environment.
I'll fill you in. Nice class 4's provide you with ore up to Arkanor. I've heard rumors of the class 5's and 6's potentially providing Mercoxit.
Dude, why in the world would you mine in a WH? People(or at least the corps I was in) don't even bother mining arkanor and mercoxit in 0.0 despite having a perfectly safe and easy logistics with jump bridges and jump freighters.
In a WH the conditions worse, you can't even be sure where you exit. Not to mention no local so you will get ganked a lot.
Quote
Ransoming a carrier is still piracy. Ransoming 3x hulks with a Phobos and small gang is still piracy. Piracy is a concept that involves extracting ISK from a person for their ship or pod.
I never said it wasn't piracy, I said exceptional/rare occurances do not prove anything.
Quote
Why would I run level 4's on my alt's CNR? It's boring as hell. And the isk really isnt that good, even speed running in a full Caldari Navy kit.
Instead I can AFK mine with her hulk in a cozy 0.5, netting 400 mil isk a month passive while I'm out having FUN pirating and blowing shit up.
So is scanning. And I know someone who made ~80-100m an hour running L4s in highsec with a golem. Salvage apparently counts for a lot.
Plus no risk of suicide ganking because you don't need a gist sb.

Anyway, sorry for hijacking this wow-thread. lulz. I'll take my eve-fanboi posting to the eve-thread and leave this wow-thread alone.
And here's your link to our boards gamesguy.

And me inparticular.

Albeit i haven't been playing lately due to summer university classes and burnout.
http://eve.battleclinic.com/killboard/combat_record.php?type=player&name=LeToniarge&tab=statistics
A quick look on battleclinic shows you have twice as many BC and t1 cruiser kills as battleship kills.
In my experience 90% of people who flies a t1 bc or cruiser are basically newbies. Ganking people gets boring, fast. Its only fun ganking capitals or people who drop a ton of loot and those are like pearls in a sea of sand. Whats the fun of vaporizing some 1 month old guy in a caracal in one volley?

Yes...BCs are not worthy combat ships...of course not...never mind the countless HAC, RECON, COMMAND, BS kills I have gotten in them.
Yes, never mind that.
Gamesguy, your alliance survived on exploiting Dyspro moons, and now they are gone and dead.
The majority of EvE players live in empire, they like to mine, they like to mission. Sometimes they like a little spice and head off to WH space. In fact, WH space has a ton of people living in it, its just 2500 systems, so sometimes you won't see people for a while.

I wouldn't. Carebears that want potentially better ore but dont want to mess around in 0.0 would.

Again, you lack the proper information to make speculations about wormholes and why carebears like them. Sure the exits change, but carebears like to live in wormholes. They use Orcas to drag in POS to store the minerals they mine to transport out of the wormhole when a suitable exit occurs. Exits change once per day, and you can either get exits into 0.0, or on the doorstep of Jita...Eventually though, a suitable exit will pop up.

While your ransom may have been rare...My ransoms tend to be fairly common. Ransom iskies have paid for 3/4th the stuff I own in eve.

Golems are shit for PVE. The CNR is better in every way. Go run some EFT numbers on Cruise golems compared to Cruise CNR's. And don't even start with "Torp golem" Because torps are currently inefficient at missions due to their lack of range and Signature / Explo velocity penalties. Fine tack on a target painter...but it's still an overpriced piece of garbage compared to a well fit CNR. On top of everything, there are no missions except for level 5, which would rape a golem anyway, that need you to tank the DPS it can tank.
Again, you're not just talking to a pirate. You are talking to someone that has explored just about every facet EvE has to offer, from slideshow fleet warfare in Omist with LV, to carebearing and invention outside Uedama.

My alt flies a 2 billion isk CNR. Full CN Cruise, CN SB, CN Amps, 2x CN Invulns, gist-b photon, 3x CN bcs, T2 rigging. I base out of a 0.5...I have never been bothered, ever. You run into problems when you run out of Motsu or Dodixie...but only morons run missions out of clusterfuck systems with superpimp ships.

A quick look on battleclinic shows you have twice as many BC and t1 cruiser kills as battleship kills.
A quick look on battleclinic will show you nothing. It actually shows a fairly impressive KDR however...
But in the end it will never show the freighter I solo ransomed for 800 mil isk. It will never show the billion isk drake i blew up in Enderailen unless you look hard for it. It will never show the countless Ravens and Chimera I've helped make eject.
And it will never show something like the incredible recent engagement my 7 man BC gang had against a small group sieging a POS with multiple BS and a Moros. Fact is, battleclinic means dick.
A short look on battleclinic shows me that you were in bob and flew an Aeon...which gives me some insight as to how you perceive small-scale low-sec pvp.

Actually it was terribly amusing seeing how fast my Deimos could vaporize a fully T2 Caracal. My record is 8 seconds from scramble time to pop.
Battlecruisers, especially Tier 2, are currently THE most cost effective solo and small gang platform available. This might explain why people tend to fly them over 120 mil uninsurable HACs.
As to fun...I've had as much fun enaging a gang of 3-4 newbies in cruisers/bcs solo, as I have killing an Aeon in our battleship gang. It's all about what you're into.
Sure newbs fly bc's and they may drop shitty loot...but this is the beauty of the ransom. A shitfit drake that dies is worth 10 mil tops...the ransom however, can be worth up to 30 mil. I probably ransom 30-40 people a month aside from the others I blow up. 30-40 ransoms times 10-30 mil isk per ransom adds up. An average take would be about 600 mil a month from pure ransoms. Battleclinic will never show you any of this....Oh...and yeah I still get lucky...
In terms of good fights? I'll never back down from a good fight in EvE...and recently that's what I've been after. Fights with odds that aren't in my favor. I've left many fights in my harbinger recently in less than 100% structure...Killing ships and taking on targets that I normally shouldn't be able to. But It's taken awhile to get my skill specs maxed and my HG slave set in. So I apologize if the last 3 years have shown me ganking targets of opportunity.
So again, if you haven't played in a year...there's no point in arguing with someone who is currently active and involved. And questioning my knowledge on one of the few games I'm passionate about, especially in terms of small-scale pvp, will generate walls of text. So I do apologize for that as well.

You can get high end minerals in exploration sites, and lowsec is a ton safer than wormholes.

Except golems can salvage while missioning. So you save time.

You assume I'm different why? I've pirated solo and in groups, I've ran missions, mined, ran a POS reaction network for a while, been director in various corps, done large and small scale territorial warfare, done empire and 0.0 merc work, and I've flown every ship class in eve except a titan.

It shows mostly you kill t1 bcs and cruisers, and 90% of players who fly them are newbies. So yes, you gank a lot of newbies, which I find incredibly boring personally.
Quote
A short look on battleclinic shows me that you were in bob and flew an Aeon...which gives me some insight as to how you perceive small-scale low-sec pvp.
And before I was in BoB I was in tri, and all we did in tri was roaming gang with the occasional fleet fight. I have tons of experience in small gang warfare. During our hayday tri was THE pirate alliance in eve, we ganked so many capitals every day it was sickening. Even after all this time tri is still the #1 alliance in terms of kills on battleclinic.

Cost effectiveness means shit to most older players. In tri we used hacs or nano-bs only because everyone had loads of SP and was expected to be able to throw away 200m hacs.
BCs didn't work in the kind of environment we fought in. I'd like to see your 10 man BC gang take on a 20man BS gang with capital support. With nano-hacs we were able to do that. BCs are great for gatecamping, but not for moving 50 jumps through multiple station systems just to get a fight or ganking a capital, and they are almost completely useless in a fleet fight. Generally speaking you need hacs for roaming gang, BS/capital/dictor/EW support for fleet, BCs are....
strongly
discouraged in the 0.0 alliances I've been in.
Quote
As to fun...I've had as much fun enaging a gang of 3-4 newbies in cruisers/bcs solo, as I have killing an Aeon in our battleship gang. It's all about what you're into.
You can do the above in a hac and if someone lost a mothership to a BS gang I can only laugh.

Maybe I'm just used to corps where people tended to have a ton of isk. I never bothered ransoming 95% of the time because 30mil is like what I spend on nanites and ammo every day. 600mil is the loot from scanning and running a single plex taking a couple of hours max.

The entire existence of tri was based around looking for the "good fight" pretty much.

More stuff...
Doesn't matter what I say...You're going to argue with me until your fingers fall off...And I don't really care tbh.
Most of your points don't have any backing...First being that 90% of noobs fly BCS...Second being older players not caring about cost effectiveness is total bullshit. I've seen noobs in all sorts of ships other than BCs and cruisers. Mainly underfit battleships, and the occasional ebay Nightmare or Random T2 battleship. It's also irritating that your overtones imply that I'm a newb because I "gank loads of newbs."
Most of us who aren't powerblocs or powerbloc pets dont have access to "safe" 0.0 isk printing, so we make a living off of piracy, ransoms and carebear alts. And I know many "older" players with 50+ mil sp still care about being cost effective in terms of their pvp. There's no reason to fly around in command ships and HACS when you can get the same performance out of the Hurricane or Harbinger...Or a well fit Gank BS. I have a hangar full of T2, but I still find that my 900 DPS gank harbinger performs the best for what I spent on it.
Triumverate is the exact opposite of small scale pvp. I've been out in Venal and the like...Their gangs are ALWAYS in excess of 40-50 pilots. veto gangs max out at 10 for fast moving ops...and we occasionally muster the 50-60 man BS gang with support to go fight the BS blobs.
I personally find the idea of being married to a mothership boring, along with hotdropping. It takes no thought, and no skill.
Find blob
light cyno
drop more capitals and bring in more support than they have
? ? ? ?
Fail
I own a Thanatos myself, and it's probably one of the most boring ships I've ever been in. The only thing it's good for outside of repping a POS is being a mobile base to haul fitted / rigged ships around in.
Nano is dead, get over it. I've been in a Nanotar, 5,200 m/s nanodomi, 22,000 m/s crow and not only did it not make sense in terms of gameplay mechanics, it was imbalanced. Which is obviously why you could engage larger fleets than yourself.
And as to engaging battleships with carrier support, we have our own effective way of doing so, and we have done so multiple times, taking minimal to no casualties.

I've been in Tri, Tri has never been about the good fight. It's usually 30+ people in nano hac's (when they were viable) vs a few people at a time. Tri was after KB numbers, that's it.
Almost all of their pilots are worthless solo.

Vsq was basically not part of tri.
They sat in venal all day, never interacted with other tri corps, never came on most fleet actions, they don't speak English and they never come on our ts.
Not to mention they turned into a bunch of isk farmers pretty quick.

Bullshit. VSQ farmed the drone regions all day.
Rest of us actually fought semi-capable opponents, except for dorm who just sat and ratted all day.
