So youve played 20 mins of the game and you clearly going to lose, whats wrong with dropping? Why should i stay and let them vet their units on me?

Exactly. And it desyncs the game sometimes as well.
You're not going to get your company back till everyone finishes the game anyways. So if you are annilated just go afk if you really can't handle staying around a few more minutes for the end.

If you want to quit; just retreat everything; wait one minute for the game to finish correctly by surrendering. There is a reason we have that in place.

Well there a multi-part answer here. Firstly don't get yourself into game where you are obviously going to be raped. I've left games early, but really they were games I had no business being involved in (either in terms of skill, or development, or both) from the get-go. Really just stupid on my part, and not good play for anyone else on both sides. But if you are in a fairly matched game, well what's the point of playing if you aren't going to give it reasonable effort? And it's kind of shitty to do to your teammates.
[EDIT] And yeah, you should NEVER outright quit out of the game, when i said "left games early", I mean explicitly retreating and waiting out the timer.

Dick move, if anything you should agree with your entire team to just stop calling stuff on, or wait for the 60 seconds of non-deployment annihilation. either way if it ends in a desync it just pisses people off.

Dont be a douche and hose your team because you dont want to lose any of your vet. I cant wait for the warmap to get up so there is a point for me losing my entire battalion for a win. That said if your team has lost as a team then surrender like a man.
