I don't understand why I get so much flak for veterancy hunting. I personally don't understand what is wrong with attacking a retreating unit. In Vcoh (which I played extensively) you PRIORITIZE in killing retreating units. The reasoning is because they can't fire back at you and if they live they'll torment you in the future. Why is that when you retreat you have this "magical" aura around you that says "No vet hunting noob".

So now, I'm here in Europe In Ruins and people just complain when I chase retreating units. The logic is identical! You kill it now you won't have to face it in future games. The player is forced to re-vet the unit. Obviously MERCY should be given to the unit if its an uncotrollable factor. Example: 2v3 (player dropping)

Now, can we stop all this vet hunt bullshit. You bring on your unit you better be ready to lose it. Why should I let you kill me and when you retreat your unit and say DON"T KILL ME DON"T KILL ME!

Just my personal thoughts.

Nothing wrong with vet hunting. That vet2 Panther is just going to come back as a vet3 Panther next game, and rack up even more tank kills...why wouldn't you kill it?

Just don't do it to people who can't protect against it. Otherwise known as newbs. They must be gently introduced into EIR before you start whacking them with the baseball bat.

I do have issues with vet farming, though. It's edging the line between acceptable gameplay and exploits.

Heh, my vet 3 Calliope is gonna get alpha shreked by an uncounterable storm trooper squad one of these days.  As far as I'm concerned, they're gonna kill my vet so I'll kill as much of their vet as I can.  Also, vethunting makes it easier for the next guy.

You joined my black list for vet hunting me on a 3vs2, we were nice enough to keep playing after our teammate dropped and let you farm your companies even more and you decided to do it your way, deal with it now.

Take this personal stuff to PMs please or I'll have to lock this.  The question asked was where people stood on vet hunting.

Personally, I always target vet first, and sometimes will chase it down if it doesn't put my unit into harms way too much.

don't judge shwimm spams as a legit game.

back to topic:

Anyways, i personally think there should be a sticky concerning veterancy hunting because obviously a huge problem.

It's just because all the noobs are proud of their vet.

Ah hell, I'll admit it, I'm proud of the veteran units in my companies (except the Marders, they can go to hell).  I personally don't like veterancy hunting, but it's understandable why people do it.  Some people just don't have the attachment to their veteran units like others do, and indeed, taking out a veteran unit might make an enemy easier to fight in the future.  I usually just let em' go if I'm positive they won't be coming back in the same game to bite me in the ass, although I can say I've definently have had moments where the game was lost and I stayed around to see if I could own a couple more units (like once they guy roled a veteran 2 P4 into my spawn where an M10 and Sherman was waiting for it, beat the #@$% out of that thing).  That's just me, and I can be a real carebear sometimes... *stares at his vet 2 luftwaffe infantry lovingly*
