I read some of the other threads that I found (it doesn't seem that I'm the first to experience this problem), but the solutions didn't work. I created a subfolder in steam/steamapps/common/CompanyofHeroes/EuropeInRuins (<-- that subfolder) and located it there, but it still gives me the error.

I tried in the Company of Heroes normal Directory...still get error. I tried in the default directory that it has, still error.

Any ideas?

What is the error?

Is it the Autoupdater?

If you install it into the Company of Heroes directory - as base.
Do not put any folder name after it.

Can you post a screenshot of your directory that youve installed it to?

Shit I'm pretty sure you could offer the guy a cup of coffee and he'd try to kill you with the mug if you forgot sugar.

That's like offering Beer to fuck the fat chick. It will work for a while, but it's not gonna last. Not only that, but there is zero motivation for the Fat chick to loose weight.

Its the "Dumbass" error.

AutoUpdater Installed to the wrong location. Please reinstall to your Company of Heroes Directory.

And thats the directory I did install it to, but it gave me the error. Could you give me the exact directory I should install this to? And also, not sure if this helps, but I'm using Windows 7.

Unless the "Download Latest Version!" on the left isn't the latest version, then no it's not possible Tongue

Well, it may not work at all on windows 7 unless you give it admin rights.  And even then Im not sure.

However, just check this:

Does the AutoUpdater.exe reside in the *SAME* place as the RelicCOH.exe?

If not, its installed in the correct spot, and I cant give you the exact spot, because only you know where you installed it Wink

Well, I fixed it.

Thanks for the "Not in same place as RelicCOH", as that gave me an idea of where to install it to and its updating Smiley

Thanks mate, appreciate the help.

If you are like me and bought CoH off of steam, you have to install the client to CoH's directory where your steam games are.

Yeah, same problem here.

So... the installer creates a subfolder called "company of heroes", which is the directory I am already pointing it at...?

So anyone else with similar problem, either:

a) point the installer to steam\steamapps\common or
b) cut n paste the contents of the redundant "company of heroes" folder "steam\steamapps\common\company of heroes\company of heroes" to just "steam\steamapps\common\company of heroes"

It does work if you have admin rights, like in vista, I'm on Win 7 x64 and EIRR works ok.

I know this is an old thread but why create a new one if theres already one here? Anyways....
So, I decided I was going to reinstall EIRR today and so I downloaded it from Moddb, now that I'm trying to install it I get an error (admin mode or not) saying that
I'm using invalid characters "/, :, ",..." and so on,  this happens while trying to install the auto updater.
FYI, I'm using these,
steam &
windows 7

Any ideas?

I just ended up installing it to my documents folder then manually moving them over to the coh directory Wink
Also, I'm not totally a beginner, I had this mod before I got the steam version of coh (this was before the war-map, not sure if its out yet) :S
I guess it still isn't out yet, anyways thanks for the help!
