I love the way that traditional EIR is played, but this is a thought and I want to get some responses. I wanna see what everyone else thinks about this.

What if EIR was changed? If it was more of a larger-scale game with a huge popcap and greater resource surplus? Tons of inf and tanks would transform the game into a zoom-out game.
Are there any other ideas?

Hey remember, this doesn't necessarily have to be a 200 popcap, but it could be a starting 50.
Replays would be fun to watch.

I think at a base level the CoH engine would not be able to handle such a mod. Could be an interesting idea though.

There are some people who can barely play 3v3s... and it makes me cry when I have to play with those people.

it would make 3v3's and 4v4's totally insane but it could be fun...lots of vet to get for units thats for sure.

it would just end in even more blobbing and no micro at all.

Yeah I agree it would be more to much about blobing, it's just impossible to micro so many units, not to mention it would kill thinking about creating platoons before game , since you would have counter for everything in 50 pop.

What abut just the opposite where there is only infantry some support weapons and like 2 tanks each max? It would be kinda like the beginning of a 1v1, the best part.

I like the way it is now, you can focus on your units on the battlefield and have to carefully choose which units to bring in.

Well first of all i am aware of the fact that the fps for some people would be unbearable. The reason why I was just making this observation and not necessarily promoting it 100% is because I am WELL aware of the fact that it would COMPLETELY change the gameplay. There would have to be NO micromanagement. The game would be more battallion based and would be more like the game Blitzkreig without the suck.

Just interesting to think about when u know that some sp missions and mp missions in COH allow for a pretty large popcap. Just increasing the popcap by 10 would make a huge difference. Sure a player could allow for a counter for everything, but so could their opponent. The balance would be the same, but the micro would be gone.

The balance would be the same, but the micro would be gone.

This pretty much says it all, except for the fact that some unit's usefulness is based on good micro. An m10, for instance, can easily kill a KT under normal circumstances if the M10 guy knows what he is doing, but take out the micro and a KT (or, an equal amount of resources of KT blob vs M10 blob) will tear M10's apart.

That's the best example, but if you want to go infantry only, take the stealth units, like snipers, stormtroopers and maybe commandos. They would be significantly less effective without micro. It isn't the same balance, nor does it take the same kind of skill (or amount).

I believe that we will be introducing a Scenario (similar to a gametype, but ... well different =p) that has a higher pop cap and pop gain.

We are also playing with the idea of some very small pop cap scenarios.
These wont be seen till 009 at least.

That's like offering Beer to fuck the fat chick. It will work for a while, but it's not gonna last. Not only that, but there is zero motivation for the Fat chick to loose weight.

I remember one vidcast I saw of this mod maybe a year ago.  The map was Pointe du Hoc and the Axis were defending, starting on the inland part of the map.  The allies were attacking starting from the beach side.  The Axis had no access to tanks (so only paks, support weapons, and infantry support) and the Allies had everything.  I think this was to represent the Allies attacking and the Axis having to hold out until their tank reinforcements could arrive.  It was an interesting game, as the Allies could concentrate entirely on anti-infantry while the Axis still had to have a company capable of taking on anything.  Despite the disadvantage that the Axis were at, I think they still won.

Maybe we could have some similar type of things?  Infantry only would be fun.

You must be reffering to the TLS 'campaign'.

Well, I can toggle on and off different callins depending on time and type of units.

So, It could let Infantry and support straight away.

Light Vehicles after a time limit.

Tanks after that.

That would be an interesting take on the gameplay, as it would psuedo-replicate vCOH.

I like being able to use what I have right from the start.

If we had a map like TLS' map where each sector had a map.  That would be awsome.  TLS was an awsome campaign and I wish we would get it started back up.
