LAIRE is real, unknown to me. I thought it was simply made up for the movie Role Models. People, i was wrong! People ACTUALLY get together and fight each other with foam swords and shields. Methinks, that some of these ppl may need to get out more often. (Btw, if ur wondering why i searched it, it was out of sheer curiosity) www.laire.com

Never EVER not cut leave out the blood drippings on a computer case. I did, and the Power-supply literally EXPLODED.
The most uncomprehensible post on the forums... Ever.

did you know people spend 3-6 hours a day playing online games, and 100% think they are cooler than the person on the other side of the screen. fascinating huh.

Doesn't going outside and hitting people with fake swords = going out more?
Whats the difference between something like LAIRE and people who go out and play chess in the park, people who go to net cafes to game with friends, or people who take part in historical reenactments?

The Difference between people playing chess in the park = You dont dress up and hit people with fake swords and speak funny The Difference between people that go to net cafes and play games with friends = You dont dress up and hit people with fake swords and speak funny The Difference between people that go to historical reenactments = the things they are doing actually happened.

There is no difference, if the difference is to you that people are lame for dressing up and pretending to do something that didn't happen then you might as well stop watching movies.

If you think about it, Laire is just like playing video games in that they are both things people enjoy to do as a hobby or sometimes as a profession. Both take the participant away from the real world and put them into a different world while they are participating, and when they are done they must come back to the real world.
It's like how some people enjoy reading as much as some of us enjoy video games.

k settle down, i just really didnt expect this to be real, it came as a bit of a shock. i cant get my head around the whole, dress up thing. i can understand beating the shit out of each other with foam swords, thatd be fun, tbh if wernt for the dressing up, i wouldnt have a problem. but seeing grown men dress up in capes and that other stuff, is kinda... creepy

I go out and hit people with REAL swords and their less-dangerous training analogues. Does this martial activity make me super nerdy too? Or just if I put on a costume. I mean I don't think a fencing mask counts as a costume, but I dunno.

Akranadas' Greatest Hits, Volume 1: Vet has nothing to do with unit preformance. We are serious about enforcing this, and I am sure you all want to be able to have your balance thought considered by the development team with some biased, sensationalist coming into your thread and ruining it.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BuFUhALxcJkIs this lame to you? dressing up and speaking in *different voices* Atleast they Go out and socialize and not stuck at home role-playing games like WoW. Its like any other hobby, they build there own armor, travel to venues in other states etc. like any other sport you may do. Ive gave this a try and its quite fun.

Not a fan of the SCA and its derivative organizations myself. They miss a lot of the martial aspects. But, hey, that's not what they set out to do I suppose.

Actually, thats quite impressive. i spose ive only actually seen the stuff in Rolemodels, and its a bit different to the actual thing. i didnt realise that u made ur own armour and stuff, and that it counted for anything. lol, meh. so ive been swayed. Happy? And btw demon i do go out. i just dont go out and do stuff like this.

Just keep in mind that if you'd like a real swordfight these are likely not the groups to go after. There are real schools and study groups set up for that world over. Word of warning is all.

lol as cool as a real swordfight sounds, i like my arms being attached to my body (sarcasm included). But i just think the mentality of having a big, sharp piece of metal once designed for and in some places still used for, killing, thrusted at u(?) is a bit to much. i can take guns, and punch ups and stuff. but real swords? they get to me for some reason.
