Greetings strategists and gamers.

I've begun work on a few new maps.
One of the latest is Colleville-sur-mer,
another real world locale located just a few miles east of St.Laurent-sur-mer.

below are a few screens/comparisons.

Cheers,

iggi

well this was about 20 minutes of work just laying out the base areas of trees/bushes/hedges.  i use hedges to "contain" areas of trees/shrubs then later cut what doesn't work.  But yes.

Shot blocking is good Cheesy.

Europe, France in particular was infamously notorious for hedgerow battles and warfare.  I like to try to stay as true to that style with Colleville, as with St Laurent, to (authentically as I can) represent real world locations where Allied and Axis soldiers did face off in close combat.  As apposed to the traditional styled maps I like to offer a real challenge to players who have become accustomed to the EIR styled maps with large open areas and few shot blocking object.  Of coarse again, sacrifices must be made for the sake of game-play, as will happen here no doubt.  Hopefully I can find a balance between the actual Colleville-Sur_mer located at WN62 draw inside Omaha, and the needs of EiR Game-play.

Cheers!

Personally, I find the concept of being faced with a representation of what US, British, and Canadian troops actually faced, irresistible.  Including nearly all physical aspects, incl. Terrain grade, building/tree placement, road layout, etc.  Seriously, who wouldn't want to play a authentic recreation of brecourt manor?  Or slug it out with the russians in an accurate recreation of Stalingrad?
Fictional maps are certainly fun; but I can think of no greater respect to the men who were faced with these obstacles than to recreate and face them ourselves.....

Too many people think a fun map is one that is a flat board with a couple buildings and maybe some trees.

I'm all for more maps that make you play differently.
