This is from an e-mail I just got Smiley

Quote

Finally its done. The Battle of the Bulge Mod for Company of Heroes is up and running again.
We have released a ToV/2.601 compatible version of the Mod.

Quite in time, as it is the 55th "anniversary" of that daring battle in the Ardennes forest.

We know it has been a long time, and the mod seemed dead,
but now it is alive and kicking again. Thank you for being so patient.
We hope you give it another go, and to see you around in the forums again.
BotB v2.601 is released as "open Beta", so we are depending on your feedback to improve the mod even further.

Regards,
The Battle of the Bulge | CoH Modification Team.

I've never done BOTB mod before....what is it? is it like market garden? If so then I think that they should both just absorb into EIR and just make it a super mod. We need to stop splitting players between Market and EIR and just double up on a super mod.

We need to stop splitting players between Market and EIR and just double up on a super mod.

Why this isn't good, and actually bad for the playerbase, to do what you suggest.

1. Different design decisions as well as completely different views on balance. Would lead to shitloads of drama and fighting among the "forged" dev team. Leads to a worse gaming experience for the players.

2. The laws of free trade. When a product is only provided by a single company or organisation, and you can not get it anywhere else, the company or organisation has it's hands untied in reducing the quality of their product, or charging an inexplicable sum of money for the product. Not that EiRR would become pay-for if the two mods merged, but without competition - development would be liable to slow down. There's no more racing and no more attempting to make one mod more appealing than the other. Frankly put - we, the players, benefit from it again ;p.

Sturmtiger ftw! It's ridiculously powerful, takes out half a base from halfway across the map

Yea, its also ridiculousy unrealistic, the range on the sturm was extremely short it had to come within meters of defences to unload its payload

False Demon, go watch it firing in action, it has pretty decent range. Also don't forget that in CoH a P4 is limited to a firing range of 40 meters or so....

Who needs M18s in BOTB when you can just spam M36s? One-shot KTs from the front at longer rangers than anything else in the game, woooo!

I don't like what they did to the original balance.
(All those range changes, etc)

it is almost completely realistic it becomes crazy, u can get a panther with 60 tank kills on it easy if u set it in a good spot or move to take out 1 or 2 tanks it just 1 shots them all.

i used to love this mod till i figured why it was so imbalanced.

maybe not but most of the time playing both as axis and against they are rather superior or maybe it was the lack of macro needed or skill to use axis...

i think it's a nice change of pace to play, just for something different. i just like the new units to play around with them. but when it comes down to it nothing beats EIRR.

Tank kills are so easy, its insane but you know, it's kinda realistic. Well placed Tigers, Panthers, 76mm Allied tanks etc would get a lot of kills. there are stories of a well placed tiger taking out a crap load of incoming tanks same for tanks on the allied side, i think one camo'd tank took out half a battallion or something like that. I forget the whole story but anyway,k its not uncommon but Axis is kinda easy mode but they're just more superior on the tank side once you get up to the level you can get the heavier tanks, other wise, allies are awesome, AB are easiest top lay with cuz they can take out the tanks the easiest, next is armor for same reasy and since u can get armor deport b4 axis get their tanks, you can rule the early tank battle, then Infantry who suffer from real good AT (i dont get why airborn get an AT crew but infantry doesn't, when they've got RR's, makes absolutely no sense)
