Has this thing totally been forgotten? Im sure many of us have a weak spot for it in our hearts (ok maybe aside from lionel Tongue) and still want it to come back in one form or another.

Since the original purpose of it is a no go with the way this mod plays, I guess we need some ideas on how to bring it back.

I'd suggest that it comes with a repairkit (more purchased for maybe a higher price?), which you can use on any vehicle/tank you want.

Why would I be opposed to a bergetiger?  It's not a super heavy, just a heavy.

So what, we're asking for it to be a free repair kit for any other vehicle then?

Give it a "supervise" type of ability, that slowly restores health to one single vehicle/tank at a fixed rate. But up its pop if you do it, so the jagdpanther doesnt eat all lionels living family in one big mean swoop of its jaws.

A heal that has unlimited uses for a faction/side that relies heavily on superior tanks?

Can we get an allied war machine unit for allies too?  Don't you think that would, I dunno.. heavily favor axis with the current repair system?

Give it a special type of repair kits which lets it repair other vehicles once

I like the idea. Even though its uses within the PE faction are limited imo (Would only be used on Jagds?), it could be used for great effect with a wehr ally using a Tiger, KT or even a panther. Encourage teamwork = Me likes.

Being a single-serving unit the price would have to be a bit low, but of course not as low as to allow a berge for each fighting tank in the company.

HE should be able to shoot his hook and pull enemy tanks close so they can't move and the other tanks can beat the shit out of them.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PqE9D1rjtkk  like this someway.

On a more serious note it could be able to relocate 88s or flakvierlings and repair them.

The bergetiger reminds me of a coh game i once had some years ago, with a friend of mine and a stranger called Francesco96. After 30 mins the enemies had pushed us back to spawn and nearly annihilated me and my friend when Francesco96 did something unbelievable.
He wrote: "WERE IS YUR BASS?" and send his freshly built Bergetiger head on into the hungry enemy army that was waiting outside our base.
You should have seen that, the atgun shots just deflected while the hull mg was overheating from shooting all those rifles, ramming the other tanks out of the way.
Epic sight.

Well he got one infantry kill before he blew up a second later.

Why don't we give it back its normal repair at slower speeds. I believe repair rates can be set per individual vehicle?

Just make the Bergetiger able to repair light vehicles like Half Tracks, and either be very very slow or totally unable to repair medium tanks, heavy tanks, and super heavy tanks simply because they are too complex for a Bergetiger to fix.

Well, sinc ethere has been some discussion about it's crane (it would not be strong enough for most stuff) that is kind of realistic... Also, seeing how PE has a resonable amount of halftracks which have low survivability (as soon as they are half health anything AT likish can instant gib them) I kind of like it...

Though it would be very slow repair or have the bergetiger have a resonable pop.

The other  thing we can do (maybe give it as special ability) is a "critical fix", either a single (or 2 of them) or on a very long reload (500 sec?) which doesn't heal the vehicle but heals crits... (for example, let it rep the tank for 30 sec with no or very little health, than suddenly at the end 100% health, so crits fixed, and back to the damaged state with non crit damage)

Yeah, and after it has restored the hp make it so it takes more damage afterwards.

If you want that, just go play OMG. That's exactly what they do. Personally I liked the old repair system best, but that is one of the chief differences between the mods. EiRR has Repair Kits, OMG has Wear and Tear.

Without overhauling current gameplay, I'd say give it a heavy repair kit it can apply to any friendly or allied vehicle. Maybe even two, or on a cooldown perhaps? I'd say give it a 10-20 minutes cooldown and a heavy repair kit. It's be a lot of pop to sit doing nothing most of the time, but it would still be fun and potentially effective that way.

make it airdrop at a random place on the map, any tank (allies or axis) that gets near it starts healing.

2 Ideas for possible solutions to the Bergetiger:

Solution Number One: The Bergetiger locks down into a "repair bunker" like structure and behaves the same as a repair bunker (with the exception that it eats up popcap pretty bad). The cooldown can be pretty long so if u lock it down then u have to keep it for a while. This would give the pe a good repair option.

Solution Number Two: The bergetiger can heal other tanks like in old COH but it has a number of uses and the uses expire after say 3 or so.

None of my ideas involve resurrecting tanks for obvious reasons...this isn't vcoh
