So heres the deal.  I rebuilt my computer the other day.  But I've been getting a lot of bsods. Reading and looking into it, it has to do with my ram.  I got the i5 750 quad core, running at 2.66GHz.  The ram I have is DDR3 1600MHz.  From reading the manual and forums, they don't work together.  You have run some thing in the bios to overclock the cpu so it can run with the ram, or you can just let the ram run at 1333MHz. 
So, what should I do?  is running the ram slower gonna make that big a difference?
Overclocking the cpu seems to make the system a lot more unstable (random bsods)
Should I return the ram and get slower stuff?  Any techies around to help me would be great :p

Over clocking your CPU would be the best idea,assuming you have the power supply that can support it and a good cooling system it shouldn't cause BSOD's or random crashes.


But that's just my opinion.

yea, replace the psu with a 750, should handle it.  Cooling though.. lol, might be the issue

I'm assuming you have the lynnfield,cool down assuming you get a decent one,you won't have to get a hardcore cooler but thats depending on how much you want to over clock it.

It only needs to go from 2.66 to 3.2 to run with the ram.  the CPU is the corsairs, the new line is just too good for its price

Then in that case you might want to get yourself a Better than decent cooler.

run the ram slowwer, Mine an run at 2000, y run it at 1600.  Its not worth the hassle of overclocking, If you have air flow, you will get fucked by a warm room eventually.  If you keep your room at a brisk 60, OCing works decent. 

Pwersonally, its not worth the risk of frying or overheating issues.  If you find your system just to slow, OC it, But tr the easier route first.
