It isn't a bug.

Shouldn't the range be at least 1.5 of what the 88 range is? To make it more useful.

What kind of damage are talking about from the 88 barrage? Are the shells 105 shells or 88 shells? If it's 88 shells, more range is adequate, if it's 105 shells, I'd think you're asking for a bit too much.

It gets 105m(METERS) of range not 105 howitzer range.

If i know its 105 meters range, not 105 howitzer range, I'll never go for this speialization - its useless for high price (T3)

That's a fair point Baine. And they're not. I think it's an awesome T3 but you might have a point regarding its range.
Still extremely useful to hit targets hiding behind obstacles though Smiley

Yeah I definately don't think it's a bad T3. I really like it, just the range makes it a bit of a dissapointment. Ofcourse it shouldn't be able to outrange a dedicated howitzer but more than the direct fire range should be given.

Because you mostly want to hit units that are out of your range for direct fire. Although it will come in handy to counter mortars behind buildings. But you usually have mortars for that.

The range is the only factor that balances it. It is nothing like other artillery pieces - it can defend itself extremely well, it's built closer to the front than other arty, etc. In addition, 105m is more than enough to hit any mortar trying to decrew it.

If you gave it full range people would just build it in the back. Then you would have an Axis 105mm that would be literally impossible to take dwon because it's far behind their lines and has a massive gun for self-defense.

Yeah, like i already mentioned twice, no need to give it 105 howitzer range, but something like 1.5x the range of the 88 for example.
Ofcourse the 88 can defend itself but then again, this is a T3 that is supposed to buff the 88.

This is only about the range, nothing else.

Baine, the point of it is not to just put a good overall buff to the 88, but to buff all of your artillery pieces by a bit.

You seem to be forgetting the 50% damage bonus it is giving out to your stukas and nebels. It seems like that should be the main point of getting this doctrine choice, the 88 arty seems more like a nice little perk to go with it.
