i really dont know what to call the subject but que sera.

So, usually i try to place a peaceable game, try my best not to be a dick head player, keep down spam, dont chase retreating units etc but more n more i'm encountering people doing this to me and im guessing ti's cuz people do it to them and the cycle continues and just pisses everyone off.

so what im wondering to my self is, should i just say F it and be a dick head like everyone else go with teh most OP ability, play the most OP strat, cuz i can def do it, i just choose not to, i play to enjoy eirr but i haven't been enjoying myself much lately and im contemplating either taking a break or just saying F it and spam T-17's and m-10's like the rest of the the top armor players do, get myself a pershing and go with obm and obr, maybe go with support spam for my defensive company or maybe spam stugs or whatever. I dunno, all i know is i'm just freakin tired of the game-play lately without docs, it seemed to be a much more enjoyable experience, i had more close games, less BS stuff happening like 5, 6 men dying to a single mortar hit or paks hitting 2 jeeps with 2 shots in a row when my at gun can't even hit a single bike in 5 shots.

this isn't a rant n rave, its' more of my thoughts in the open and how im feelin atm, i'm just not having fun anymore, maybe i just need to be like everyone else and see if that's any fun cuz they sure seem to be enjoyin themselves.

T-17s are excellent vet hunters. Their accuracy vs. retreating infantry is amazing. They always snipe the last guy who runs away. Always killing either a vet 1 (soon to be vet 2) or vet 3 unit with a small pop.

Stun and rape tactic. T-17 and M10. I'm proud that at least one allied player ain't using that strategy, everyone else is and only counter to such is to gather around as many paks and P4s as possible.

I've been vet hunted only once (thank god) but stacked against, plenty of times.

id say make repair kits cost fuel and have em repair less so we at least have a bit less vehicles. volks mine must become stronger vs t17s. cant it be some sort of a long wire instead of this little thing on the ground you will never hit.

doctrines still need balance but thats being done after theyve all been put in.

IMO tym, The sooner you begin to dissassociate vet hunting with "dick player", the more fun you are going to have while playing the mod.

When that happens, you will see your units getting run down as just a part of the game and those you will do it to will see it that way as well.

I like to think this mod is competitive and to be competitive means to use powerfull strats, then when your comfortable enough to deviate from the cookie cutter strat, you do it and the meta game evolves.

Stop placing so much emphasis on your little computer men and play the game.

All vet must live and die by the sword. None of this punching with gloves on nonsense.

Embrace the vet hunting and relish it.

Like Groundfire said you will start enjoying this mod a whole lot more when you let go of the little digital mans.

Yeah, you get such a larger rush destroying high vet units, much more so than high vet units mowing through no vet units.

Let all of yours die then hunt everything you can find.

If you can keep the vet and hunt at the same time, well then thats what this game is all about isnt it? It's hard to do both.

there is no need to chase down retreating infantry IMO, that is a dick move, but chasing down retreating vehicles is fair play, because otherwise they will repair and come back.

If you're worried about losing vet, then don't get it. Be prepared to be hunted by all players, even if they are reputed for letting you retreat.

And if you are against a vet hunter, then don't let his unit get your squad and get away with it. Fight fire with fire Smiley.

This.
I used to be very much orientated on 'veterancy', acquiring it, holding on to it and hating players who hunted it.
I don't know what happened but I kind of stopped caring about veterancy (some exceptions remain, like my big tanks) and now that I care less I definitely enjoy the game more and tend to get a lot less angry :p

Vet hunting is not a 'jerk' tactic, it's a legit method within a persistent environment for one player to prevent another player from using that same powerful unit against him in a future engagement.

If you can't handle losing vet then you shouldn't bother trying to hold on to it either.

As for your other complaints. You don't have to run gimmick tactics, I run a single OBM pershing with 2 shermans, 1 M18, 3 quads and 2 T17s and as the leaderboard indicates it's working pretty well. I also don't think OBM is the current most 'OP' tactic to go with.

Play whichever way you prefer playing... HOWEVER be prepared to at least make adjustments to your playstyle and company build if you are not achieving much success. The metagame is constantly evolving, which is imo one of the most beautiful aspects of the modification. This does mean however that you can't run the exact same company for 3 years on end and expect it to "always work". I consider myself a player who builds fairly balanced companies and while over the 3 years I have been playing my average builds havent changed significantly, there have definitely been some adjustments that come and go.

I vet hunt if I know it will help me more than doing something else (killing a vet 3 mortar so I don't fight it tomorrow v. killing vanilla rifles with a pm for instance)

Me and Kwai have had this same discussion, that there is something strange going on, I had so much fun when docs weren’t implemented, I guess they are making too big a difference towards the docs that don’t have them, and I know that "then play one that does" but never enjoyed the others, anyway, as it has been stated before it’s no use complaining about something that isn’t finished, and that how we came to the conclusion to stay in EiR cause we both where thinking of taking a break, but the realization of the saying that goes both ways "if it aint broke dont fix" is that "if it never worked how can you demand it to be put right?" You just hav to be patient Tym!

And as far as vet hunting goes im just letting everyone know right here right now I hate this aspect and will not play with players who vet hunt, and with vet hunting i mean chasing retreating units off the field. You may call me a well W/e you want but this IMO.

Vet is there to be used and when you use units they inevitably die... except if they're ab. ab don't ever die Tongue

Ah, well, I guess you won't be playing against me again then. Pity. Personally I consider it a perfectly rational thing to chase a retreating vet unit if I think I can kill it without affecting my chances to win the game noticeably. That doesn't mean I don't get upset when I lose my vet calliope just outside spawn, but it lasts about 10 seconds until I remind myself that it's exactly what I would have done. A retreating unit is simply a unit that is not a threat now, but will be in the future if it survives. As long as "surrender" isn't an ability in the game in the same way retreat is, any enemy unit that doesn't die will come back to haunt you later.

I <3 my vet, and it sucks balls when you lose it. I find the best way to deal with it is to rage at yourself when you lose it by being stupid and shrug off the well played vet kills some people pull, had a vetted tank get blocked by a croc as the croc was killed so i couldn't back out because of the wreck, very sneaky.
