There's no problem with having a mature discussion on this subject granted it does not degrade into an OMG vs EIR ('which mod is better, blablabla) flamewar.

i think the best thing that can happen is 1 ventrilo server, links to the other websites on front page and some sort of integration of the two launchers
with that last thing i mean some extra screen where you can check whos online in the other launcher and if there are any games up.
and ofcourse all maps shared, devs that work on both mods etc etc.
but i dont see it happen.

Idk, i wasnt here for the big split per say, but arnt those people who caused the split gone from both mods? I mean for the most part, they are not in the position of development or no longer have an influence over either mod?
meh, idk it's probably a matter of who's code is used if the mods get combined. Im sure luci wouldnt want to give up all his hard work.
It's too bad we cant splice the codes in some way, make concessions and a blend.

It's posts like this that would stop it from happening. Although I do honestly think it will never happen, it's certainly possible. With Andy no longer in power, I don't see why they can't rejoin, he was the one that split (with his gang o' cronies). CNewbie is in the seat now, I don't actually know his stand point on something like this, you'd have to discuss it with him. Honestly, I wouldn't mind going for the EiR style, with a mixture of the doctrines. I'd have to say that the balance efforts at OMG are a bit wack, and the doctrines in EiR are ridiculously powerful. Combined the two mods could be good, but like others have said, good luck. |
