just make it cost resources in the launcher to buy the abandon crew function, that way you have to sacrifice having more units with keeping ur epic units.

everyboddy wants this coz they think its just so cool. but does it REALLY add to the gameplay? ofcourse.. if you get engine destroyed on your vet tank it sucks that you basically always lose it. but isnt that the great thing about this mod? just look at all the sad faces of the opposing team when their dream of just killing just one vetted tank goes up in smoke.

Why don't we make the crew that jumps out just as weak as when engineers are building stuff. This way people can have a slight chance to save thier vet/unit but it comes at a real loss in the terms of damage recieved.

The best thing to do would be to remove Immobilized/Destroyed Engine from the game. That shit's no fun for anyone involved, and adds absolutely zero to the game, besides the fact that once every blue moon the CoH Gods will smite come poor tank for their vile sins such as 'getting within 27 meters of infantry' or 'being on the field vs a PE player.' It just does not work in an EiRR environment, and, though rare, absolutely ruins the fun and spirit of the mod.

I don't know the numbers, but I see stickies immobilize a tank just about every single game. The timer would make this option viable, and it is necessary because often you have a 15 pop unit that can't leave the field, and you are forced to kill it yourself or just pretend it's a Siegfried line emplacement, which is next to useless. As long as you can take and hold the ground it's on for 30s or whatever, you should be able to remove it from play without calling AT on your own troops.

just give it a selfdestruct button.
it would be even better if you could only press the button if youre immobilized/engine destroyed.
is that possible?

I personally vote for the decrew button, but make it take 15 to 30 sec (random or decided by tank maybe?)
And make it that the crew itself has little to no health and has to retreat manually (so you have to walk them back) and they cannot enter any vehicles, this way a puma, T17 or w.e can still hunt down the crew and it takes efford, but it is not impossible.

no shit walking out of the tank. if you are so noob (or unlucky) to get ur tank immobilized it should die.
ofcourse if its near the end of a game it can still survive, or you could press repair button and hope for the best (sometimes it works)
a cancel repair button would also be just as fine, start repairing, once engine is fixed cancel repair and drive off.

I don't think it's a bad idea, but needs some constraints, most of which people already said. What i think:
Can only be done if the vehicle is immobilised or has engine destroyed (red). Not sure why people are involving realism here but to follow the course, crews really only abandoned if they were immobilised and under attack, or the tank was on fire.
Crew number, make it 3 for armoured cars and such and 5 for tanks.
Have them auto-retreat BUT only have them move at the same speed as non-retreating infantry move, so it's still possible to chase them down with a stag/t17/armoured car/halftrack etc.
Make them a bit weaker than regular riflemen.

I don't even want self-destruct. Your immobilised in the middle of nowhere tank means someone put in a lot of work and effort into getting a sticky off on you at yellow health or luring your tank into a mine at yellow health after you used a repair kit. It's now YOUR RESPONSIBILITY to waste mortar barrages, grenades, tank shots, even offmaps to kill the leech.

What happened to the old self-destruct button anyway? Watching someone press that button by accident on their vet 3 tank was some of the most hilarious shit ever.
Ya, it turns into a race against time to escape the map with their precious vet 3 tank before it goes boom :p

Akranadas' Greatest Hits, Volume 1: Vet has nothing to do with unit preformance. We are serious about enforcing this, and I am sure you all want to be able to have your balance thought considered by the development team with some biased, sensationalist coming into your thread and ruining it.
