Leave assaulting to rangers, they're the real ground pounders.  Airborne are long range troops!!  Grin

This isnt OMG. Too many new units jus ruin the entire mod. A doctrine is supposed to have it's stong areas and weak. That is so it can be countered by something. If this would be introduced I promise u that you would see AB RR squads supported by AB Assualt squads would rape everything.

anything more than 4 thompsons and its going to be ridiculous anyway, they are the best assault weapon in the game (unless that's been changed over here)

AB already get BARs, assuming the devs don't take AB riflemen out of the game.

That is unlikely.

I actually have a question about AB riflemen/MG squads.

Why is it that AB BAR riflemen do not receive the suppression fire ability, but are clearly paying the same price as riflemen? The logic behind the sticky bump in price is understandable given their ability to fire-up and sticky. To me without the supression the BAR loses some of its value.

also the airborne MG crew doesn't seem to receive the ability to upgrade to AP rounds (probably wouldn't use them). possibly a bug though.

in other ideas possibly a doctrine choice to decrease the time it takes for AB to get into battle, or the horrible drift they seem to suffer upon landing? AB currently seem to take 30s regardless of how much pop on the field, and sometimes end up on the other side of a hedge or a river and need to take the long route around.

They pay the same because they are on a better platform. The Bar itself is a very good weapon but suffers from its shitty standard platform, in the case of AB Riflemen it doesn't.

Because Airborne Rifles have better armor than regular rifles and more health, thus they can sit and fire longer and do more damage, plus their normal guns, the other 4, do more damage than normal rifle guns.

and yea, they usually have doc abilities for drift and time to deploy.

I'd love to see recon ab though. it'd be a 2 man team that if they're on the ground, within their range of sight they provide a lower scatter radius and have maybe 40-45 sight range. Only other ability would be the ability to fire up.

I guess you can call them an AB Recon Sargent

Dafuq man, don't ask for proof if you'll refuse it if it's not in your favor, logic fallacy for the bloody win.

jesus christ no.  They have assault AB in OMG, with only 3 thompsons, and its by far the best infantry unit in the game...

That is a bug AFAIK and will be probably be looked at once the airbourne doctrine comes in.

Just like in the old airbourne doctrine, it's very likely that there will be drift and/or call-in time reducing abilities yes.

Usually, when we're adding a new unit through a doctrine, to a faction; it's to either fill a gab that the faction is missing, for example:

Scorched Earth -> Hummel -> Flamegrens -> Pios

Adding units that replace other unlocks is generally a no go, as we don't want any one doctrine to be the 'best'
