Just a thought. A lot of the "Pro" players and "Vets" I've seen seem to spam a lot, no names. I also tend to notice those "Pro's" have learned who to play with and who to play against. I've kinda done the same lately, I know who I'm compatible and comfrotable playing with and if it's someone new, i wont play against guys I know are good players or who are comfortable with each other (yes i'm admitting i dodge and "stack", so what of it?).

So what's your definitely of a "pro" player?

Someone who plays a game professionally and is living off it.

There's also the muscle to brain ratio criteria which is too complicated to explain and is outside the scope of this post

My definition of Pr0 is someone who DOES NOT spam whatever units are OP at the time and exploit OP doctrine abilities/broken units. This is all games ever consist of are "Gimmicky" companies that do nothing but spam OP things thanks to broken doctrine abilities. Then they tell you to stop whining because it'll be fixed some day.

I find the term "Gimmick" misused today.

Gimmick is a company that will work once, twice, but not more against someone, as a counter company is obvious, and requires very little effort to use to actually beat your gimmick.
It can also refer to requiring either specific company builds from allies to be effective, or requiring a certain size of game (only 2v2, at least 3v3 etc.).
In other words - requiring to fulfil very specific requirements before becoming successful on the actual field of battle, and not at all flexible.

Most companies used today are simply theme companies - and even though the term "spam" applies to them - they aren't truthful spam companies. They just have a certain number of units, which is larger than the average number of units per company - but far from complete extremes. They are also versatile, and generally work OK against any enemy company - it is simply impossible to build a specific counter company.

The use of actual gimmick spam companies has been, to most extents, dealt with.
First off - the ammount of manpower was greatly reduced, which results in less units fielded in general, and gimmick spam companies have less room for error.
Secondly - PP costs simply disallow people from using many of the same unit type. Availability is working pretty well in filtering out gimmick company builds.
Third - the experience this community has amassed by now is.. quite simply put - staggering. Most gimmick companies have already been tried out, and thus - counters have been devised. If not counter companies - the general tactics on how to deal with certain units have already been thought of, and using a gimmick company is just a lot harder than it used to be.
Fourth - most truly OP doctrinal abilities were removed. Remember the old Raid Assault? Or who wants 70 percent more damage and pen tank reapers? Perma-repair OBM? The list goes on and on - and each of these super-powered T4s brought about gimmicks to be abused.

Even if it isn't perfect for us today - it's still a LOT better than it used to be. And development hasn't stopped - we'll get there eventually.

Hahaha that last post wasn't directed towards you mysthalin tbh. Volks really aren't OP, I was talking more about TR zook spam, T17 spam, etc.

Pro = someone who gets Paid. Its less something we can discuss here, more a general understanding related to a "pro" gamer.

EIRR = no pr0s. 'tis is a fact.

in eirr pro is associated with some vengeful, desperate creature trying to reduce other peope's enjoyment of the game by viciously teaming up with their (usually homosexual) friends and who by sheer amount of games played know all the cheap tricks and easywin strategies and thus can turn this against the innocent regular who only plays 1 game a year and starts with a mortar and a mg

at least judging by some people. dont forget pros, you are anti-social, cavedwelling obese losers too.

for instance, sharpshooter hounds me in launcher all day cause he thinks im pro. i bet i have more forum posts, than eirr games.

They true grenadiers in that sense. No i dont dodge people nor avoid playing with certain people. As long as you are not a total noob or have pissed me off with inept play in the past ill play with anyone.

Pak, i dont think you should take it literal.

Player comes up to me and says "Pak spams storms" This does not mean you have 8 or so of them, this statement helps me understand that storms (according to this player) revolves highly around your strat. so i will know what to expect, and what to gun for and annihilate quickly when i see your unique colour on the battlefield.

Sure I mean the 1000 times you sit in a game in launcher commenting "join here its less stacked" bla bla bla "house is rigged" doesnt count towards hounding, how foolish of me. I'm 99% sure this social service" you provide is given to players other than me too, I bet they love it even more.

Imo that should be warnable behaviour equal to this "illegal" smurfing you keep bringing up, sitting in launcher berating other people for how they make a game etc, especially when its systematic.

Woops, looks like it already is:

Quote
We will not tolerate abuse by any players here at Europe in Ruins, if you are specifically targeting a user and hurling abusive remarks at that player in order to either shame or force that player away you will be dealt with. It is anti-community behaviour and we do not want that kind of thing in our community.

Does your constant nagging, hounding and "social commentary" fall under this description? Im convinced it does.

Sad thing is, You have no complaint about it when you and 10vet3m8sguy and supahstomper2000 are beating upon mercyplz, 25POPnoAT and ScrotumAFK, yet you always hound other people in launcher when its the other way around. This is true for a lot of behaviour, but you make it so easy to call you out on this cause you seem to hurl your monkey turds in more or less the exact same fashion each time, like its sharpshooters robotic justice routine.

Big bluff, thats what you are. And I was out last just this friday, you sicko.

I think the whole pro thing in eirr relates more towards new players getting stomped by experienced players, it's more a case of new players not really knowing what they're getting themselves into most of the time.  May have been Tym (someone, anyway) that started a thread a couple of weeks ago about having some sort of system for new players to get the hang of things without having to tolerate repeated losses, or repeated stompings where they may feel as tho they're completely useless at the game.  It's pretty demoralising to come over from vCOH, liking the look of everything and how the game plays out, read the tutorials and think you've got the hang of things, then get raped for your first 5 games, which then leads to threads regarding balance and how xxx unit/faction is OP/UP, etc.  Something more than just the tutorials (which i'm sure some wouldn't read anyway) is needed to help get new players to stick around for the long haul, tho i'm not sure what tbh.

PS it's basically the above situation (first line) that leads to stack accusations, and it's understandable (to a degree) for some experienced players to not want to play alongside new players because of the heavy cooperative play requirement for eirr, on the other hand there's only one way they're going to get better.

i lost 150 straight games before getting good. i think with the current situation where new people now have systems and information, personell who are willing to help and shape your company. i think new people have it good considering how it was with new people last year. they have nothing to complain about.
