here to show how the ostwind fights elite inf at long range:
http://www.xfire.com/video/2c02fe/
ostwind is completly useless vs inf in green cover.
Only unit the ost can do anything against are rangers, but that's only when they are not in cover. vs AB they have no chanse.

imagine the same situation at max range on RTC or coming down a street on abbeville. Any vehicle would have suffered in your situation and whoever was using the ostwind needs to l2p.

i love ostwinds, they're much better vs infantry than puma.s'
they have splash damage, higher range, better armor, more health, can crush green cover, are better in yellow cover than puma's and they can take on light vehicles. With a p4 + ostwind start, i totally raped a 3 stag start, with the ostwind getting 2 of the kills. I routinely use ostwinds vs light vehicles and its now getting out that they're good vs lv's so you're starting to see more ostwinds. Matter of fact, i'd have to say lv spam is harder to do than ever now, the axis are starting to adapt lol

Dafuq man, don't ask for proof if you'll refuse it if it's not in your favor, logic fallacy for the bloody win.

If I get shot and it's a gay medic fixing me up, he's not gonna be fondling my balls while he does it. You can't patch a chest wound and suck a cock at the same time.

Ostwind's main attraction is the aoe damage and the anti-vehicle capabilities.
Plus the ability to kite infantry.

tbh that vid just demonstrates to me why there is no way in hell zooks should be 55 munitions.

IMO the Ostwind is BEST as a breakthrough vehicle. It rapes while it exploits a gap and rarely else. I've rampaged with it while surging forward and only forward, through gaps in defenses.

Oh ya, I also forgot the best feature of the ostwind. Everytime it lands a hit it makes the enemy squad scatter, the puma does not. With the ostwind's rapid rof if you catch a squad in the open or light cover it will literally make them dance.

ostwind range: 40
puma range: 40
ost has 129% the health of a puma but,
costs 437,5% more fuel.
and about the other points you can make a same story about the puma:
pumas are faster, are better in heavy cover than ostwinds and they can kill snipers. with a p4+
2
puma start, i totally raped everything start,.

i've raped with a p4 + ostwind start. Plus, i've had several 30+ kill ostwinds, how many times have you done that with a puma?

Well according to Leaderboards there are far more vet Pumas than ostwinds so I'd say that pumas have easy time getting that 30 kills.
Ostwind loses to 2 greyhounds too, heck it might lose to a one too

Because a forum post should be like a woman's skirt. Long enough to cover the subject material, but short enough to keep things interesting.

Tyms - Why the ostwind > puma
more dmg
ostwind 40
puma 30-25
better shot range accuracy
.90 ostwind
.75 puma
better long range cooldown
1.0 multiplier ostwind
1.5 puma (meaning, it fires slower at long range)
larger AOE
ostwind LMS 2/1/.5
puma LMA .5/.3/.1
aoe dmg
ostwind 0.6/.75/1
puma .2/.35/1
while the puma has a better acc vs heavy cover .5 to .25
the ostwind is better in light 1 and .8 dmg
to .75 and .55 dmg and most infantry are going to be in yellow rather than green cover.

thats only because pumas have that weird armor, are used in packs, have lower xp requirements for vet and can get away easier because of their speed. But I usualy carry 3-4 ostwinds and one game i had two ostwinds get 30+ kills and the 3rd 20 and all but one died. Ostwinds die, much like crocs die. They're a huge target because of their effectiveness

tym,
acc of ost :
Quote from: LeoPhone on May 26, 2010, 03:19:28 pm
ostwind accuracy vs inf:
short: 0.675
medium: 0.5625
long: 0.2625 (will only be firing from this range if it wants to live)
puma 20mm accuracy vs inf:
short: 0.75
medium: 0.75
long: 0.5
both have x0.5 accuracy while moving + x1.5 cooldown when moving.
the only downside of puma20mm is that it has 0.6 accuracy and dmg vs heroric infantry.
you forgot about the x0.75 acc ost has vs all infantry types.

yes, pumas have weird armor, thats what makes them better than ost, yes pumas are used in packs coz they are only 6 pop instead of 10. thats what makes them better than ost. yes, they have lower vet requiremtents than ost, thats what makes them better than ost. yes they get away easier because of their speed, thats what makes them better than ost.
croc has received armoured skirts in eir, ost has received nothing. while the ost only has 400 hp (p4 has 600, STAGHOUND HAS 450, WTF?)
tbh, staghound does pretty much the same damage an ostwind. change ost price to 340mp and 50 fuel like stag plz.
and u cant say well, stug also has 400 hp. coz stug beats a sherman and has superiour front armour.

Osts are good. They can't harass like pumas but can rip and deter inf pushes. You'll notice that basically only all muscle no brain players will accept the losses advancing inf on a supported non-moving ost.

The points about infantry scattering and splash damage are indeed good - I was smoking something yesterday to forget that, heh.
Though I'm still of the opinion light vehicles could use an overall fuel price increment.

meh, w/e leo. in the end i'd still take an ostwind over a puma, i've got 3 osts and no pumas and i do just fine, the thing is, i dont have eto run away from anything with an ost but a tank or at guns, unlike the puma i can take on zooks and rr's sometimes, even light vehicles

ostwind should just have the same health as a panzer 4 tbh. atm it dies to like 4 zooks.
sherman croc also has same health as normal sherman. why give light vehicles almost the same/higher hp than a tank?

one more thing im wondering:
how comes a 75dmg zook kills a 400hp ost in 4 hits? i have checked it on crosix, and zooks have no dmg multiplier vs ostwind.
