not a surprise, in rts balance makes or breaks the game, but there's not much money involved in improving it, it has to be good from the start or have a good reputation from the company on making balanced rts - starcraft has blizzard doing balance, a lot of people felt SC2 and wc3 was as balanced as you could get it RTS wise (over time ofc) and LOOk, just look at how popular those titles became both in terms of revenue, community and modding

one thing though, the relic guy starting the thread is a Pile of shit. because no way it would cost them much money to fix some of the glaring and easy to fix rgd patching type of stuff, so he's just lying out the ass

people look at grahics interface, but when it all comes down to it, the winning formula for RTS seems to be:

1) pain-free matchmaking system (so players can play)
2) balanced races (so the played game feels fair/good)

basic vcoh was hella basic. 2 races, some basic doctrines, a few bugs but damn they had those basics pretty much nailed down

Smokaz, i dont think he means in terms of spending money but in money lost moving people from doing new stuff or hiring new people to do the testing. IF they move people from other projets or have to pay them overtime to do balance stuff, that costs money.

I agree but for some reason gaming companies think you need to hire people with degrees to fix balancing issues.a

i'd hire mod guys to fix my games balance on the side and the cheap tbh. Just farm it out instead of keeping it all in.

nah 1.71 pershing CP requirements changed to 1CP less then tiger and it eated stugs for breakfast

if you managed to save 900MP as US it was in most time GG because your pershing was able to wreak everything on the field if your opponent played blitz-t3

Relic, as a collective group, needs to be given some kind if STI like Dhobi itch until a balanced, interesting and competitive game is made.

As I see it CoH is overburdened with many bits of bullshit and constantly reverted balance changes. A new, leaner, dapper CoH 2 would be a welcome creation to leave out all the crap, a low-carb CoH: CoH:Atkins.

Company of Heroes was never in the position to become such a product, so don't flatter yourself. Truly competitive games happen by sheer fluke. Many, many games have going after the esports crowd and have failed, the reason games like Starcraft are esports is because they were at the right place, at the right time.

Dont lie, that map owned Tongue I mind playing him he was at the south me north and i just could not fucking take the town, i had to just sit in my spot till my howies could fire to scare him away when i would sprint up the road and jump in the buildings cap tah vp in the town hold for aslong as possible get pushed back fire howies again then retake, slowest game ever.
