I don't understand how it's supposed to function. As far as I know pool costs are there to stop spamming.

This I guess means if somebody gets an abnormally high amount of units, they'll be in minus areas with their pool and will have to pay pps every time they want to play with that setup.

At the moment though, you get into minus areas if you field 4 PIVs (-12/36) or for example 3 pumas and 4 bikes (-3/36).

Now yes, we do have a "reserve pool", but shouldn't that be there for the lvl9 companies which find themselves with left-over resources if they don't get 5 PIVs and 4 pumas + some bikes - which is enough to force them to pay PPs every match, remember too the last advantages are gotten at lvl8, where you still really care about having a decent pp income per match - and therefore instead of limiting spam really just limits your choice of units if you don't want to pay pps all the time.

I just find it kind of ridiculous that for 4 PIVs I'm already taking a large slice off my reserve pool, while having a perfectly normal amount of units.

Adding to this there are several strange things I don't understand like Officers being counted as infantry.

Maybe the pool system needs a major redo?

(and yea, I'll admit I thought of posting this because of suddenly finding my lvl8 def company on 18 PPs oversupply at the end of a match...) Angry

If your 18pps into oversupply, then your company building a company that the availibility system is designed to restrict.

Also, doctrines modify the pools. Your defensive, your not supposed to have 5 P4s. The pools are setup so that in compensation for your lack of tank availibility, your support pool is bigger than most. 4-5 P4s + 88's are a tough combo, which is why your reduced in your tank pool. It's not restricting unit variety, it promotes it, forcing you to find different units to satisfy the same roll, but by working through the availibility system.

If you want 5 P4s with no oversupply, play blitz, where the tank pool is bigger.

If you want 5 P4s in a def. company, then your gonna have to use your reserve pool.

It provides the flex room for you to do builds like this.

What groundfire said - Defensive is intended to use up it's fuel in 88s, Stukas, Nebelwerfers, Bikes and only a small portion of it in a Panther, a pair of P4s or 3-4 StuGs.

If you're going for 5 P4s - Blitz/Terror is the way to go.

I have

4 PIVs. (-12/36)
3 Pumas, flammenhalftrack, 6 bikes (the minimum tbh, look at EliteGrens 4 sniper company). (-15/36)
Pio with minesweeper and mines, Officer make my infantry pool from -6 to (-21/84).
In the meanwhile my support is 30/54.

How the hell is this over the top?

your not using nearly enough of your support pool.

you either have 4 support weapons or 2 snipers or like 1 88mm, or some combination of the first two in your entire army!

In a defensive company!

Your not making it fit at all, thats why your having problems. You at least need to play like your doing a def. company alittle.

Maybe because Officers and Pioneers clearly belong to the support pool, and not to infantry lol.

Not to mention Terror is at the moment best for support weapons, not defensive.

One thing I will admit and support fully tho, is that Minesweeper engies/pios/sappers/Ppios should not cost 3 PPs oversupply.

Its absurd that a minesweeper unit take up to a quarter of your PP gained per game cause thats the only unit that is oversupplied in a rather balanced "fit within the system" company.

Really? Can we get same info about that modifications? Or devs just can post info about doc pool in released docs list here - http://forums.europeinruins.com/index.php?topic=13883.0

Then why don't you make defensive company bonuses fit using support weapons? At the moment it's just as good if not better for gren "spam", while support weapons "spam" fits better to Terror.
Officers and pios counting to infantry pool is one of the most retarded things ever.

I find snipers way overpriced for WH and 88s don't fit at all into EiRRs game-play (in other words, they suck). So I don't get them.

Well defensive isn't meant to be spammed grenadiers with(even if the bonuses fit) - and seeing as you are spamming them - you're paying the price for it in PPs. The system is doing it's job perfectly.

It's not the mod's fault you're ignoring stukas, nebelwerfers and 88s completely(all of which gain insanely good bonuses from the bottom tree), as well as completely ignoring volks - the lifeblood of any defensive company.

Officers count towards infantry specifically to not allow grenspam companies with officer support to be too viable. Regular pioneers are in infantry pool because they're exactly that - infantry.

(pro-tip : if you give up that mine on your pioneer and get a regular minesweeper pioneer, you'll save 3 PPs)

6 Bikes being the minimum isn't a fact - but your opinion. Just because Elitegren has 4 snipers doesn't mean everyone does.
