More ideas on vet 4 & vet 5 stuff (non combat bonuses) are always welcome.

Since he said it and i feared it may turn into a whole different convo within another thread, i created a new one.

So, you guys have any ideas? I'll go some of mine first.

Free Upgrade
Say a vet 4 Sherman gets a free .50 cal at vet 5 gets a free 76mm.

New Ability

Rifle hits vet 5, he can throw sticky bombs onto infantry, or can throw satchel charges, maybe he throws 3 grenades at the same time that scatter in an arc and the blast zone wont overlap.

"Ace" Status
Tanks have their name changed at Vet 5, so you get "Sherman Ace, Pershing Ace, Callie Ace, Tiger Ace etc."
and infantry get high honors,
Rifles would get "MoH Rifles" or or DSC Rifles (Distinguished Service Cross) and snipers can get Medal of Honor on it since they're a single unit.

Aura Bonus
If you're next to a vet 4/5 unit, they give off an inspired type bonus that doesn't stack (maybe the squad leader is the only one that gives this off and it can affect the units in the squad itself as well, so if he dies, then it goes away). So, depending on the unit it can be a defensive or offensive bonus. IF its like an atg, mortar, hmg, defensive bonus, rifle, volks, offense, etc.

imo, vet 4 and vet 5 units should be OP.

OK, lets take a Sherman. it takes

13 xp for vet 1
50 xp for vet 2
100 xp for vet 3

more than likely it'll take 200 xp for vet 4 and 400 xp for vet 5

and u dont think that if u can keep one unit alive that long that it shouldn't be awesome?

Well theoretically there's things like 'map detection', those aren't combat bonuses.
But the truth is, ideally there'd be no bonuses at all. We don't want this to become some vet level that gives only the finest vet horders and grinders some insane bonus in future engagements.

What we do want is vet 3 not to be the 'stopping' point, give people something to keep aiming for. And some bragging rights when they do achieve it, nothing big.

Something like a custom name at Vet 4 and a free piece of equipment at Vet 5 (the cheapest one probably) would be appropriate IMHO, given how much effort it would take to get a unit to that point.

I don't think it should EiRRmod. The last thing we want to do, is give Vet Horders more of an edge over people.

I think that custom names or different skins like if your have a vet 4/5 unit. Like a Tank with a Iron Cross or Medal of Honor painted on it. I feel that Vet 4/5 should be for bragging rights only and not do anything big. Maybe a few little things like reloading .00000005 faster but nothing where vet 4/5 units face rapes anything it sneezes on.

see the thing is about custom skins is that we dont have a skinner, which means we need to use public domain skins.

And most everyone uses a skinpack here anyways, so they would have all the custom skins already.

We can do naming, custom skins are a tad redundant for the majority of the playerbase tho.

Ok so maybe the system isn't perfect. But I think it's a good ballpark start


Custom names as far as a player naming it is hard. But each unit having a blanket vet 4/5 name can be done for ingame.

I'm of the belief vet 4/5 should be simply aesthetic.
Having said that I'd be mighty pissed if I got a KT or a tiger to that crazy XP value and didn't get at least something for it. so there needs to be some recompense for the effort at vet 5 at least

Why not just decrease the vet bonuses a bit for vet 1-3, then add similar ones to 4 and 5 along with an Aura bonus of some sort for units around it?

Honestly, if you can keep a tank at vet 4-5 without it getting suicide rushed good for you. Infantry is where vet is the problem, because they are still way to survivable when they hit that retreat button.

Bummer , Yes I had but it for some reason made the launcher and the game loading take forever and a day.

What's wrong with that? We've seen 2k exp KT's before haven't we? We've seen 1200xp Fireflies, so it's possible. From my very brief experience with OMG, it was equally as hard to get anything to vet 5 there (could be very wrong). I really like what you suggested brn. Blanket names would be better than individual naming.

If bonuses are going to be given to vet 4/5 units, they'd need to be minor, we don't want to give these players units that will NEVER die!

Vet 4/5 should only be for prestige - having them gain further buffs, especially OP ones would just break the fine balance that we've got right now (and the vet isn't actually balanced as is, and could use some more fine-tuning).

And yeah, 4/5 should be very hard to achieve. In all honesty - vet 1,2 and 3 should be harder to achieve as well.

Remember when Vet 3 for heavy tanks was 500XP? And remember how we had no shortage of vet 3 tigers and KTs running around? Yeah 1k exp is nothing

I'd rather see some minor equipment buffs for infantry at vet 3 like EIRRMod said.

Such like. Binoculars, a bit more LoS and Detection

Smokegrenades something like that.

Of course the bonuses should be a bit better for regular infantry than for Elite infantry, elite is enough elite as it is...

I'd like vet 4 to be accessible by xp to everything and vet 5 to be a single unit in your company. What it gives doesnt matter much!
