Nevyen thanks for your clarifications and my apologies if my previous post sounded insulting to the Aussies Vietnam vets. Their exemple in Vietnam is not the first and last one when military victory is achieved but doesn't prevent a political defeat....

Vietnam was a grand defeat despite all the battles fought there were won by the Allied side. Somehow they just couldn't achive what they wanted to. Media couldn't help on that at all. The propaganda they filmed and shot of dead vietnamese bodies made the home front stronger and people encouraged the war to continue, until media filmed the horrors of the regular villagers and whatsoever...Wasn't it true that whole Vietnam was bombed harder than any battle or whole World War 2 together? Allies couldn't achive the wanted victory...homefront collapsed since people wanted them home and stop the useless onslaught so allied forces retreated. Isn't this same thing happening in Iraq?

and

Well Spartan, that's the best way to show how you can contradict yourself....asking to stop about the Muslims and bashing the French two posts later...
Moreover, the French were not kicked during Vietnam war, but during Indochina one.

Yeah, i know that the war was called that. But they were defeated in Vietnam, with most of the fighting taking place in the Tonkin Area, or Northern Region of Vietnam. Same area, different war, and they were back to back.

Second, I bash the French because i am Canadian, and its my duty to do so.

Poor you, hopefully for your country not all the Canadians I've met are so stupid....may be because the guys I met were grown up enough...(may I add they came either from Quebec and the other part of Canada...).

If anyone is Muslim, please realise the following message is not racits in any way.

Dunno if anyone is aware, but today on Remembrance today in London, a huge crowd of Muslims thought well to protest against our national Remembrance day, displaying posters with phrases such as "Burn British troops!" written on them.

This is absolutely disgusting. If anything of the sort happened in their country, they would go mental and bomb us to shit. And another thing, if they have sucha problem with us, I genuinely don't see why they fuck off. They're the dirty racist ones, how dare they do this to us. It's fucking disgusting.

idd stupid muslim cunts, they burnt a massive poppy too, and the fuckin retarded thing is they had a police escort to be able to do it. need to have hitler back and go genosis part duex on them fail cunts.

Royal, I can understand why the Brits feel allowed to bash the French.... a revenge on Hastings and Fontenoy, hehehe Cheesy. The year I spent in UK was very amusing from this point of view....would you believe it or not, I even attended Trafalgar dinner (should I be ashamed for this, well  Roll Eyes that was good fun to have the Brits singing Rule Britannia and the French Anthem too!!). After all, with all the respect due to it, the Royal Family's motto is in French!!!
But you're right, and especially in the context of your latest strategic and defence review, it seems that we'll end up in the same team more and more....

First of all, there are alot of reasons for Canadian to hate the French because of the French Canadians.

1. We were a British Colony, have strong loyalist sentiments. We also respect the Monarchy and still include the Queen in our government setup via the Governor General.

2. French Canadians are always crying about seperation, but still want to use our currency.

3. The FLQ crisis is still remembered by many.

4. Go to Quebec and its a pain in the ass. The driving conditions are terrible, never seen so many people refuse to signal. Store owners refuse to sell to you because your English Canadian. It goes on.

And to further note, the French don't even like the French Canadians due to the bastardization of the language that they call French. You can call us stupid, but at least the British don't have the French influencing thier votes like we do here

So if the English Canadians and the French both hate the French Canadians (according to what you say), why should the English Canadians hate the French instead of just the French Canadians?

It's a polarized issue. I have no problems with French Canadians, I've got problem with individuals but I won't generalize against a group like that.

Besides the Vandoos are a French Canadian Regiment (Royal 22e Rgiment) and they've acquitted themselves superbly over the last century.

They did hold a referendum to separate, and it was a very close vote, so there will be a level of animosity for alot of the nation for the short term which is unfortunate. I've worked with alot of really good french people

Just to Clarify the Aussies where never "Kicked" political will failed, but in all the battle honours recorded in the Vietnam period

From Long tan to The Battle of Binh Bah, there was no engagement where Australian forces where defeated in combat.

The war was lost but there are allot of Vets including some family friends of mine who would never admit to military defeat.

Bit of Aussie pride I guess, but the Australian Military records speaks for itself I guess. Smiley
