A friend showed me this video today and I just about died laughing:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=loSzpvq73FY&feature=player_embedded#!

I then downloaded the DEMO, and barely could make it to the end. Two of my friends couldn't even finish it. And this was the demo haha.

The "water" part is in the demo and it was pretty scary.

Even though I beat the demo I will not be getting the full version haha.

Scary games own.

The most frightened I've ever been was probably back playing the demo for the first Penumbra game; both Amnesia and Penumbra are from the same developers.

I've had a fear of water in video games since the sharks in Half-Life one. That shit scared me crazy! I purchased Amnesia as my girlfriend and I often like to play scary games together, we've played Silent Hill 5, Dead Space and some Penumbra games, but none of them come close to Amnesia.

It's a game best left for after 10pm when everything is dark and you have surround sound headphones. I'm currently stuck in the prison, I cannot physically bring myself to load the game back up as the sounds of the monsters alone are enough to freak me out until I alt+f4. The monsters don't even look that scary, but still, it's definitely a game worth the money!

amnesia is definitely a great game but it did not feel that scary when i played it

after i saw just an outline of the first zombie running in the dark i run after him and not away to take a look because i was curious about the creature belonging to the outline
after that there was no scary left unfortunately

these games live from running away and not knowing what happens around you

that works very well as long as your curiousness<fear

Amnesia, ah yes. I tried the demo and then bought the full game and then finished it.
Awesome game, also try penumbra serie.

Might be scary, but penumbra was scarier.. There you really was haunted all the time..

How does one become scared in a video game?
Immersion. It just doesn't effect some people because it isn't 'real,' but our empathy is what allows us to feel scared for the character by putting ourselves in their shoes; the same is true for movies or even books.
We're also able to be freaked by the ideas a media puts into our head. Frightening imagery and shock moments can really play with us, it's why we're afraid of the stuff that goes bump in the night.

Extra Credits had two really good episodes on the topic:

Fear 2 had exactly 0 moments for me. Fear 1 and the expansion scared the living shit out of me at certain points.

Most notable, is the coming out of an intense firefight, opening a door starting to walk down the hallway and suddenly im falling into a pool of blood with a door at the end. I move toward the door a little creeped, when a skeleton leaps up trying to strangle you and suddenly your back in the hallway nothing out of the ordinary. Go to the end and your back in the middle of a firefight with the enemy, with you realizing there are bloody footsteps on the ceiling. (that was fucked, i loved it)

Unfortunatly fear 2 took that shock horror, and just through 'ghosts' at you every 5 min.
