Almost all the players who commented on thsi thread has been year since vEIR, played through TheLastStand campaign as well as the wtflol days of raid assault AB, terror subversion, Tank Reapers, etc etc etc. So... what do you mean by the creation of OMG took place before them??? Truth to be said, it is entirely easy to develop a mod on this complexity within a week. In fact, it only takes 2-3 days to do out the planning on paper. It is the coding which will take a month or two.

But thats assuming you spend 20 hrs a week at it.

the creation of OMG took place before eir went away but really got popular while it was down because it was the only thing around. I definitely remember being on the boards talking about them leaving to do their own mod sometime during or after "The Last Stand' campaign.

Proof that it was around before EIR died and posted on September 23rd

http://forums.europeinruins.com/index.php?topic=6516.0

EiRMod's intro thread on nov 9th.
http://forums.europeinruins.com/index.php?topic=6641.0

Okay, so looking through the general discussion, which was never wiped like everything else, there's a derth of posts from Oct 3rd to Nov 9th. which in between then means there was no mod. In one thread, it jumps from sep 30th nov 9th. So yes, OMG was in production before the death and resurrection of eir.

Tym pretty much owned this thread. I'm actually very pleased with his posts because I wasn't sure exactly what the deal was with OMG. I asked a few devs but they all said "I don't want to talk about it."

Guys, guys, OMG is a continuation of the old TLS that Salan and Andy started.  It went from a mod of a mod, to a mod all its own.  AmPm was there, ask him about it.  Hell, I think the old TLS forum stuff is still on our site too, back from 2007.

Salan came up with this idea in late 2007, because EIR was getting stagnant, and needed something to add more depth to it, other than the constant war, reset, war, reset etc.  So TLS was born.  That being said, TLS was a dismal failure, as we found coh doesnt work well with realism stuff.  That and Salan was unwilling to change his mind on set company designs, as some of them included no AT at all.  *cough* Airborne *cough*  You were supposed to rely on your teammates.  Now, after a few weeks of this, and the failure that occurred, something new happened.  Bonte had been banned, I think cant remember, from EIR for a short time, and we was showing off his awesome coding skillz via youtube.  He was grabbed up, as a small handful of people knew about the FL- wife thing, and FL- wanting to quit EIR.  So they started working with him to get the code and continue the project.  Some drama went down, as I am not privy to this, and only a couple of people know, and two mods came out of it.  I will say this however, FL-'s paranoia about his work was part of the factor leading to two mods.  I say it was miscommunication between parties.

So now we sit with two communities, two mods.  Both are very unique, and enjoyable in there own right.  The best part, is that these mods are a testament to there communities and coh modding as a whole, as we enter the 6th year of CoH.

**edit**
The old TLS stuff is gone, must have happened after a forum cleanup.  Or is only dev access now, either way it was there.

Tbh the only fail about TLS was the super team stacking on axis side disheartening allied players. Otherwise it was lots of fun and a great idea.

HA, i remember when the invasion of Normandy went down, the AB players were allowed no AT.  And played on RTC, such a slaughter.  The axis players just brought on stugs and stuhs and chased AB around the field.  Now that was hilarious.

And what stacking on axis.  All I remember was players like Apex "defecting" every other game cause he kept losing.

WEll u forgot that axis wasnt allowed any fuel based units in the beginning. Also too bad i cant find the old battalion roster anymore, showing this one buttbuddy battalion filled with all self proclaimed axis pros.

The allies was promptly pushed back to the sea. I think the 84th Division was largely responsible.

The TLS stuff was lost in the forum change over.

As to the rest of it.  Its old history-  I would say the only person who could set this straight would be FL, and it would be a waste of his time as I doubt it really matters anymore.

I guess idol curiosity sees this question crop up, and the story with a liberal writers license could be very entertaining with hero's and villan's and etc.

In the end two mods exist there is OMG and there is EIRR, each with its own approach and flavor.

So be it!

It really is time to put this all to bed and move on, before anyone else makes unsubstantiated comments about what mind a person was in, or what the actual events where.

It would be a shame to drag FL's name and anyone involved in the process of making free content for such a game (COH) through the mud based on hearsay and half truths.

leave it be

People always forgot it was me and Salan that started TLS :/ I probably still have the pm I have with the idea, that I sent to Salan, which pretty much kicked off the whole thing. It was after the EIR TLS campaign that the TLS website started being used for OMG development purposes. (With Salan and Gamerandy)

Not that I would possible want to take a lot of credit for the failure that was TLS :p.
Although the concept was fun at the least.
