Yep, but either it's unfixable or the devs dont want to do it. In other words it will never ever happen.
Or the one and only guy capable of changing this ( if it is decided it should be ) is so completely swamped with coding other shit, that he just doesn't have time.
Please keep in mind that the dev team is a very small group of volunteers. It is not a giant corporation with large teams of employees eagerly awaiting your opinions so they can jump to any changes requested.
