I downloaded through the Relic downloader and it aborted the patch on me...

The patch has a really wierd way of updating that is prone to failure if you're impatient. Here's how I patched my game error-free:

1. Start up vCoH.
2. When prompted to download patch, click "OK" and wait for it to finish.
3. When the patch has finished, it will say it needs to restart to apply the patch, click "OK".
4. Wait for the autoupdater to pop up and start patching the game (there will be a popup for Windows 7/Vista).
5. Under NO CIRCUMSTANCES should you start up CoH AT ANY TIME between steps 3 and 4.
6. Enjoy your patched CoH and, by extent, EiR!

Also, if you interrupted the actual patching process, (not the download of the patch, the application of it) you may have to reinstall CoH.
