To get down to the mantle where the magma is you need to go down 30 kilometres minimum. There is only minuscule amounts of magma in the crust, even beneath an active volcano. The only lava that would be exposed by bombing would be calm and still, thus no eruption. And when we safely get Iceland down below sea-level any further eruptions will be harmless.
Its gonna be ONE HELL OF A BOMB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Freedom is a loaded term. Some freedom is attained by imposing restrictions. (i.e governments can 'enable' certain forms of freedom better than the free market ever could)

What I have found interesting in my research is that, Governments throughout history hate to be condemned, and thus the perpetrators are imprisoned for a sum of time, however, if a man is to condemned a faith, or a ethnic group or race, they don't get charged.

BNP chairman Nick Griffin is an example of this, where he publicly incited violence against Islam and sterotyping Muslims to be Rapist.

Quote from: Nick Griffin
'Islam' is a ‘wicked, vicious faith’ that ‘has expanded from a handful of cranky lunatics about 1,300 years ago’.... society was turning into a ‘multi-racial hell hole’.

However, he was acquitted of all charges by the jury because
Quote
it was ‘little more than crude racist rants’.
Overlooking the fact that it was a public display of hatred to incite others to violence and prejudice against Islam and Muslims. Also i think i read somewhere that it was his political rally to be voted in as a minister.

Then we have those who condemned governments move in, for example, going into the vietnam war, yer, they were imprisoned.

Demon, i acctually went a whole 6 months course on freedom, power and change, is Mill the only person you are basing your paper on?
I mean you have so many on the concept of human actions, and why they should or should not be allowed.

Gandhi, Luke's, Habermas, Bourdieu, Weber, Wittgenstein, Scott etc.

There is a real good book, that i used to write and essay on the silent opposition of the everyday man.

Its called the Global resistance Reader check it out ^^ ill write a longer post later when i gotz time

Hrmmm, well you could use mills, and discuss Foucault, concerning the discourse of thought that one believes there should be freedom of speech, but that no one actually enforces that right. You could also look at it from combined with Kant? What ever law you uphold as a person, make sure you want in held as a higher maxim, or common law, e.g. "I think its okey to steal therefore others can steal from me" You could also discuss freedom of speech from the point of view that Mill has in relation to society, and the power of state? and combine it with Durkhiem, or marx (even if he is a filthy communist). In the sense that for example, Durkheim believed in society as a frame of mind, and in that frame one had to stay or conform to, or we would turn into lust driven apes, (in relation to freedom in general should we have it as individuals) or as Marx discusses, that you as a person hold a piece of power, but that piece should never out way the community as a whole, and then go on to the Holistic perspective Vs the Individualistic or Utilitarian view. Considering mills views of state I mean.

And the paper I talked about earlier, was in relation to James Scott, and his thoery of silent opposition, example " when the king passes by the servant bows his head, and lets slip a silent fart". You could discuss that in relation to what mills was saying about compelled silence?

First, if any opinion is compelled to silence, that opinion may, for aught we can certainly know, be true. To deny this is to assume our own infallibility.

Secondly, though the silenced opinion be an error, it may, and very commonly does, contain a portion of truth; and since the general or prevailing opinion on any object is rarely or never the whole truth, it is only by the collision of adverse opinions that the remainder of the truth has any chance of being supplied.
