90% of time sniper dies and the spotter is left alive , is it a bug ? should be other way around i guess, spotter alone is useless and he just gets retreated.

It's intented. And the spotter may be useless on the field, but it's an easy way of retaining the veterancy.

There are times the spotter dies and you can make a decision to keep the Sniper on or not.
Also he may only have a sten but he stills has 55 sight.

If the sniper just happens to die then thats just luck the enemy has for his AI somehow targeting him first. If its from a sniper, the other play most likely simply targeted the sniper.

be nice if much like with a rifle squad, the pop was lowered instead of staying at i think 7 when that sniper or even the spotter dies

That wouldn't make sense for the population to decrease, other snipers cost 7 pop and if the sniper dies, the spotter is next to useless and should be retreated anyways. If the spotter died and the population decreased, you'd have a regular sniper for less population.

You wouldn't have a regular sniper, youd have a sniper without camo who now needs another unit to scout for it as well. The whole point of the commando sniper is to give up camo for large vision and the ability to vanish for a few seconds. Sight is what gives the sniper its survivability as the smoke only lasts for a few seconds (I remember the cooldown being quite long, not sure if it still is). I'd say make the spotter 1 pop and the sniper 6. Now if you want your sniper to function at maximum capacity, you now need a total of 9 pop (C.Jeep) to make it the same as it was before or a total of 11 if you use a recon squad.

make the sniper 5 and the spotter 2, seems reasonable.

I was considering the thought of the sniper being 5, but I feel that the player with the sniper should be penalized and 1 pop difference with jeep isn't big enough.

tbh you should be manually targeting the sniper, not leaving it to luck =p.

It shouldn't even matter, since your Commando Sniper should be retreated immediately after losing a squad member in most cases unless you have a death wish, and especially so if you know there's enemy snipers about.

In a even close game, facing a lot of dual upgraded grenadiers. Would you retreat your american sniper if he lost some of his LOS below 50% health?

If he somehow also lost his cloak ability in return and had it replaced by ninja smoke on a high recharge, then yes. Besides, there's no real comparing it, the American/Wehrmacht Sniper and the Commando Sniper are two fundamentally different units. Damage to the standard sniper can be healed via triage or med kit, losing a squad member, however, is irreplacable in the span of a single battle.

Commando Sniper is one of the most imba units... why is there a need to buff it further??? Look in the RGD for the target priority and range of the sniper rifle / sten gun. That might answer your questions. tbh you should be manually targeting the sniper, not leaving it to luck =p.
Spinn is right. Any good player easily beats the commando sniper (provided his a noob).

I like my mando snipers better without the spotter, sure you lose some LOS but it fixes the stupid targetting AI.

It also doesn't give away the damn position of the squad! I've just created a mando company with Ultra decryption and the commando sniper + raf recon.. tbh it's an unstoppable combo. You have the ultimate counter to ANY cloaked units from the opposing team as well as a knowledge of where everything is, PLUS mark target as a TIER 3.

I dunno where you're getting this, commando snipers are easy to counter if you know what you're doing.

Sniper with infantry or light vehicle support is a good way to dispose of a pesky Commando Sniper. Draw out the Commando Sniper with a vanilla infantry squad as bait, then have your sniper shoot and hopefully kill them. Otherwise, dropping artillery is always nice. Using light vehicles can be dangerous if the sniper has AT support (which he usually will), so only send them in if it's a suicide mission.
