I've lost a vet 2 and vet 3 howitzer crew today because they crew would simply not retreat. They'd get off the gun, but stand there. I could select them, but no movement commands could be issued.

Building things or issuing Retreat orders in the Spawn will cause this.

Most units have a built in 'Offmap Retreat' option like tanks for this purpose.

They weren't next to spawn either time. Once was 1/3 of the map forward, the other was almost halfway.

Bad luck? My support weapon crews occasionally do the same thing. Two of em get blown to shit but the third guy will just hang out and be like "what's up?".

Also, sometimes, it only LOOKS like the guy is standing there and you can't control him.... but REALLY he's retreating. You could see the little dot on the mini map of him hauling ass, but he leaves like... a little ghost dude chillin by the support weapon. Maybe this happened to you, but the guys got killed on retreat?

for my ATG its always. One invisible dude runs away the rest stay. Which is fine.

I had that problem with the howi, but they added the option to manually retreat. but in this case u said you couldnt move at all.

You do realise keeping ATG crew-members on-field (after death of ATG itself) is a potentially ban-able offence?

serious this doesnt happen to you guys?

Ya the guy is invisible, but still is getting shot at. AI is tracking him, and maybe the players seem him running, but i dont. I think it happens to enemy crew members too? Though not as often.
And he can still die. But i wont see it. Only hear it.

Because you can use him to cap and to scout? (not to mention that he is 0 pop)

Don't do it, get him killed or walk him off-map.
