I was under the impression that the .30 was mirrored stats off the MG42 LMG with a new skin?

It has the worst short range DPS of any automatic weapon (excluding engineer guns, ofc) IIRC.

Its a really bad trade off for the buff that Airbourne armour gives.
You either stand there and fire a really crap weapon and die trying to kill anything at all.
OR
Run around and get the buff.
What was the reason behind the LMG anyway?

There was a model and AB was a squad.
No joke.
It was intended for the Marines but after it had undergone it's first tweak we shelved balance changes to Reward units, Upgrades included and then sometime during the Jan-March period of this year they got added to AB.
