Wasn't there a standing order to the German Wehrmacht that any Jewish soldiers were to be killed instead of taken prisoner? And didn't only 1 Field Marshall disobey that order?

No doubt they were denying or concealing their status, but nevertheless, there were many other war crimes that the Wehrmacht carried out. For example, the taking (or should I say the sack) of Warsaw, where they decimated the city, committed mass rape, slaughtered civilians by the hundreds of thousands, and when Warsaw rose up against them, the soldiers stationed there were given orders to use civilians as human shields.

On the Eastern Front, German soldiers were instructed to kill any Russian civilian at the slightest sign of dissent, supposedly justified by the desire to wipe out Communism as an ideology. German soldiers took more than their share of supplies and starved many Russian villages due to their pillaging of their supplies and foods. Entire villages of civilians were massacred if a suspicion of dissent was detected.

Despite what some sources may lead you to believe, sadly the cases of the soldiers within the Wehrmacht defying the atrocious orders seem to be the exception rather than the rule.

I'm not saying other countries' armies didn't do these things. But just because others do it doesn't mean it makes the Wehrmacht any better for doing it. They weren't as honorable and against the ideologies of their superiors as you have been led to believe.

Half and quarter Jews or less, not full Jews. Germany had weird and contradictory laws and loopholes concerning how much Jewish ancestry you had to have to be considered a Jew so they could avoid crashing their war economy.

There were a few thousand full Jews in the German armed forces, but almost all of them hid their identities. The whole "shoot on sight" thing and all.

To be fair, there's war crimes and there's genocide. Hitler took the definition of 'war crimes' to a whole new level with the holocaust. So yes, the axis WERE the 'bad guys', because not only did they start the war, they also made it a wartime goal to systematically murder as many civilians of a specific ethnicity as they possibly could.

So don't come here with your bullshit equalising german war crimes with American or British ones. The soviets are a whole different thing entirely, if anything they were just as brutal as the nazi's.

That being said, just because the Axis are the bad guys doesn't mean every soldier who fought for the third reach is therefore 'evil' or a 'bad guy'.

Also, it's a public misconception that the Wehrmacht were entirely free of fault. Learn your history.
(And I'm talking not the 'usual warcrimes' that other countries committed as well, I'm talking about participation in the holocaust)

I'm not saying there weren't decent german soldiers and whatnot - and that they all believed in what they fought for. But going out on a tangent and saying the wehrmacht as a whole were in fact the good guys, fighting for a noble cause is flat out moronic.
