It doesnt matter that he blobs. The problem is it works in EIR. Best way to overrun your enemy in EIR is to spam nothing but 1 type of unit and attack. Like only infantry or only tanks. Good luck stopping that with ur combined arms. Its the reason why 1v1s fail in EIR.

usually it works everywhere...it works in real life too! Just look at the Russians in ww2
