What if assault were able to only on an area, rather than one a unit? This gets rid of the chasing and the unit will end up throwing nades at a particular spot even if its target moved, rather than chasing until its out of nades.

Assault has always been bitched about but the fact is that it can be easily countered. Of course this means you must have a building near by, hedge, any vehicle or tank, mg...etc. Yes, it can be annoying to fight but you can get away from it.
