Greetings all. in anticipation of receiving CoH GOTY edition in about 13 days time, I have signed up to the EiR Forums after reading about the mod, but there are some questions I would like answers to...

Firstly, is there any kind of campaign system or campaign map for EiR, or are the battles just fought on the basis that any battle gains experience and renown for your company?

Second, is there a list of the different company doctrines and benefits somewhere that I can look at to see which would suit best my style of play?

Thirdly, Is there any list I can check out somewhere to make sure my divisional number does not clash with someone else's?

That's about it for now., looking forward to playing this in about 2 weeks time. Smiley

Hi good to meet you

There will be a campaign map in the future, but at the moment its just vet units and command points

All the information that you need is in the eir manual sticky in the public alpha testing forum

You cant clash division numbers - it wont let you

Hello there & welcome aboard.

While you wait, don't hesitate to set up your account.
Pick a side, purchase units, upgrades and manage your platoons.
The moment you have the game you'll be ready to hop right in Wink.

Of course, since you're pretty new to CoH in general, it might be a good idea to look into some of our Guides (Such as the Tank guide, Platoon management guide, Ultimate guide and any other additional guides you may find interesting.) and other guides found on gamereplays.com, etc.

Good luck and cya on the field!

Thanks for all of the heads up.

I've been playing the demo on skirmish mode against expert difficulty computer opponents quite a bit now. I'm mostly an infantry player, I use very few tanks, prefer to have anti-tank guns and let my infantry make the advances, then 'dig-in' and bring up the guns, with a bit of howitzer artillery or aerial strafing to support the advance, rolling barrage and all of that.

I'm actually a graduate in War Studies from the University of Wolverhampton, we even took a field trip to Normandy in the second semester of year two for a week, so I'm hoping all the lectures on strategy, historical accounts of battles and battlefield command should pay-off.

Having said that, my table-top war gaming record has earned me the nickname Vice-Admiral Zippy (UK viewers of rainbow will understand) for my poor decision making and horrendous luck at the most inopportune times.

I think I will plump for an Infantry battalion for three reasons. Firstly my local regiment (The Lincolnshire Regiment) were infantry before the were merged into the Anglian Infantry Regiment. Secondly, my Great Grandad was an infantry conscript in the Great War, and was attached to the aforementioned regiment with his unit from the North Staffordshire Regiment. Thirdly, Infantry suits my style of play, and although Rangers are largely inferior in terms of anti-tank firepower compared to paratroopers, Infantry push tends to be my preference on the field.

That said, which of the four sub-doctrines to go with I have yet to choose. If this becomes a campaign I will probably play a defensive role within the side I choose so it is likely I will go with Artillery or Heavy Infantry battalion.

One question, can one player have more than one battalion? If not, what happens if a battalion is crippled beyond use, or the player wants to change doctrine?

<<Additional>>

Is it possible to change information given on the battalion registration screen later? I don't have a Relic Profile for CoH yet (have one for Dawn of War though) so I cannot guarantee that the name I enter will be available when I register.

Firstly, choosing a defensive role is not so simple... your flexibility to get games would be quite limited, and playing less games, you would suffer for CP, resource bonus, and veterancy advancement.  Many players seem to have specialty companies within each division for attack or defense, rather than an entire force being specialized one way or the other.

You can, in the alpha currently, have more than one division.  Register with a second, or more, email accounts to experiment with different doctrines, or factions.  I did this and it helped me to acclimate to the game rather well, and certainly helped me get a grip on which doctrines and playstyles I preferred.

Your profiles...best bet is to go to Reliconline and register a few profiles so to be sure to match them up with your EiR profile.

There is a way to register relic accounts for multiplayer before you get Company of Heroes? How do I go about this?

I'll bear the 'having specialist companies within my battalion' thing in mind. Probably have 2 Defensive Companies, 2 Offensive Companies and 1 Elite Company perhaps.

I see, I figured because there were letters A-E that 5 companies would be available.
