I have a pair of 6970s and they work beautifully (not saying you should do the same, its overkill) - but the 6XXX series is very good for its power consumption over the GeForces.

You have a slight hit in performance over the new GForce cards, and the older 5XXX series as well, but the capabilities (3D TV etc etc) make up for it.

Shit I'm pretty sure you could offer the guy a cup of coffee and he'd try to kill you with the mug if you forgot sugar.

That's like offering Beer to fuck the fat chick. It will work for a while, but it's not gonna last. Not only that, but there is zero motivation for the Fat chick to loose weight.

Why don't you collect up your love beads and potpourri and find something constructive to do.

For gaming, cheapest is AMD 955 and a good video card from the money you saved on the CPU.
Or go AMD 1090T if you have more laying around.  Anything else is not worth it from AMD.
Because for gaming, when ran at high quality, the video card becomes the limiting factor (if you have a decent cpu - 955). Money can be thus spent better on the videocard.

You are much better off buying a i5 2500k instead of one of the FX series unless you do very specific stuff (run lots of virtual machines or rendering etc). But these are expensive. ($300)

I wouldnt take APU as it is made for people that take enough with a 'decent' video card and dont want to buy a seperate one.

Most importantly though: dont trust what people say Wink, find out yourself by looking at benchmarks.

And I got this one:

http://eu.msi.com/product/vga/N580GTX-Twin-Frozr-II-OC.html

It's even more awesome, and yes I had to sell a kidney for it.

Back on topic, I have used a lot of 5xxx/6xxx cards from ATI, this is my first nvidia card in a long time.... and their drivers can make a huge difference, I guess I'll stick to nvidia until further notice now.
