I noticed after a few months away that vet is ridiculously out of reach now, but I can't find the inevitable flame war that must have preceded or arisen in response to the changes...

Where is it? Google is failing me...

Becouse there never was, vet in EIR is really usefull sometimes even trumping t3s and can with a t4 become a devastating device of destruction.
and it makes the normal game of EIR alot more fun due to the lack of vet whoring and being a pain in the ass.

Oh I see it from a completely different perspective. I've always considered vet one of the most annoying aspects of the game. It always tempts me to hold back from attacks I would love to try and play more cagey, when I feel this is actually a detriment to the game.

With requirements like this, losing them is just that much more frustrating, and achieving it requires players to play even more like a$$hats...

Most likely I'll just give up bothering with it and commit all my forces every time... which to be honest might just be a good thing.

In any case I still think the effect of it is bad for the mod... players will fall into one of two categories: either those who give up and just play like they're on crack, or those who play like jacka$$es and ditch their team-mates to save every squad, yet in the end are rewarded by having the toughest companies.

One thing, yes there are alot of people that do still vetwhore like assholes in this mod and are a pain in the ass to play with but that is only Play With, the faqt in the matter that even tough those asshats may have an epic army of vet 3 rangers or even a vet 4 Minesweeper they still are fully useless do to the faqt that they vet whore them but there are exlutions.

Take a look at dnicee, he played good aggressive fun while still killing the enemy and even tough he lost it in the end but by using it as bait and using it to actually kill the enemy(he lost it in the end tough) he still won games and did his part.

Final word is that just stay away from them but this allso makes people play alot more defencively when they vetwhore and you are allmost allways granted a win in this  so yes it is harder to get vet in this day and age but atleast you dont have to lose to gay shit as vet 3 ranger blobs with TRZooks and Tommys or vet2 Stormtrooper bundle spam.

and Tbh only idiots vet whore do to even tough you may have the highest vet army you still most of the time have the highest loss army, just take a look at my old TH company where i once had around 50 wins and 100 losses but assoon as i said fuck it i shall just waste them i got rid of all the vet 3 hetzers and TB and actually won the game to make it not as shitty W/L ratio
Granted the faqt that i still am really shitty at this game winning still grant this great High that you really can only get few other places.

I think I got your jist...

But that's not the point, even if no-one vet whored, that just leaves the rest of us with nothing. We'll basically never see elite units because there's always that one game where it gets stickied, arty gibbed, or whatever. The amount of things that can insta-kill units means you're playing russian roulette---it has nothing to do with "being careful".

My goal would be either veterancy is only partially lost when the unit dies combined with lower buffs, so the whores aren't able to stomp; in that case it would be perfectly fine if the ranks took a long time to earn. Currently though, losing everything is so easy and it's often random. It's like trying to play Splinter Cell from start to finish without saves or respawns.

It was increased along with the removal of the SP cost tied to it. And everyone hated that shit, gaining vet 2/3 ingame really changed the game in a good way.

dw guys, vertiggo is the guy who spammed arranged 2v2's with his buddies where they played to get vet & wins.

I'm sure he'll have plenty of vet 3 units in no time.

haha thanks

This is kind of my point actually. I prefer to play the game for the win, rather than baby my units because it cost me so much to acquire their experience.

I get your point, but it's not why. I had a bunch of vet still from before, but as I lose them I'm just reminded how I'll never see them again...

Dude people have been running around with 500 xp minesweepers and 1500 xp p4s. Besides units get +3 xp just by being called onto the field these days

vet is vet. it lives, it dies. it hurts when it dies cuz its that one unit that you kept on the field for a long time, over many games, it's helped you win games, and tough engagements.
