So I watched David Lynch's first movie today. I'm a big fan of his work so I assumed his often mentioned (and just as often praised) Eraserhead would be awesome. Well here are some of my reactions to it:

At first I was like

but it soon evolved to

So, any of you fellows seen it? If so, what do you think of it?

Demon posession is real and it's not funny, it's the creepiest thing you will ever experience.

I would also like to add I watch fox news everyday all day and will continue to watch it while being proud of that fact. I'm sure you enjoy your communist news network just as much.

Yeah. It's a good movie provided you're willing to sit through something different. Art fags like me appreciate movies like that, but if someone's the type of person to think Transformers or 300 were good movies then I doubt they'd like Eraserhead.

That... things... crying. And then its laughing... *shudders*.

Yeah when I saw it one of the many thoughts that raced through my head was "this is like a wet dream for pretentious hipsters that like to think they are so much more refined/smarter/alternative than everyone else, and then they sit down and try to outdo each other in how much they appreciate it and how awesome they are for liking it."

It was a hard movie for me to sit through just because it's so unnerving, I'm not sure what point (if any) the movie was trying to make other than making the viewer feel completely uncomfortable. The movie is pretty horrifying with the sound effects and stuff they use.

But either way, I still like it. It is a work of art. I mean how many movies have you seen that can make you feel a certain way. It also uses great lighting and fantastic imagery that just sticks with you.

But I totally agree it's the kind of movie that can lead to pretentiousness. But it's so well known that maybe hipsters think it's too mainstream =P

You have a point but I still think that Eraserhead, in terms of a movie, is absolute crap. Now on the other hand if you consider it to be a tool to induce nightmares...

Also I think there's a reason why David Lynch has been awfully quite about this film. There's no point in it, at all. It's "just" a student project. He did what he could with the meager budget and instead of trying to have a plot or any purpose its just a showcase of photography and general filmmaking skills. Like some kind of CV for filmmaking to allow him to get his hands on bigger projects.
