well yeah, ofcourse when terrorist are planing something they will write it over their twitter or facebook wall
Didnt you know that main tool of communication for Osama and his associates was facebook?
If I was planing to do terrorist attack first thing I would do is to put it on my facebook wall so everyone can see it,I would put what I plan to blow up,and then you could follow my blog about how am I building bomb, when and where will I do it etc. It's so genious,no one would suspect it,and they would never find me,even though they could see my name and town in which I live, and ofcoure,I would leave my mobile number, just in case FBI is too stupid to find me
Oh yea, later I would go and dig up Marlyn Monroe grave, and I would hide shovel in my anus...

It looks like the officials were being assholes for no other purpose than that they felt like it.
"I kept saying to them they had got the wrong meaning from my tweet but they just told me 'you've really f***** up with that tweet boy.'"
U.S. Customs and Border Protection released a statement about the "terrorist tweet," confirming that two people had been taken into "secondary interviews" and said that during those interviews, information was uncovered that "revealed both individuals were inadmissible to the United States."
Officials being douchebags just because they can.
"Americas stupidity" though...really? You really think they didn't understand it was all just a joke?

I would also like to add I watch fox news everyday all day and will continue to watch it while being proud of that fact. I'm sure you enjoy your communist news network just as much.

Because a forum post should be like a woman's skirt. Long enough to cover the subject material, but short enough to keep things interesting.

Oh..my..god.. really?
Of all the police state nonsense you could dig up, this was it? The U.S. officials were not being assholes, they were testing the waters.
I wish this community could have a legit discussion on important topics like the NDAA S.1867, without degrading into a trollfest. You know, the NDAA, that wonderful piece of legislation that states the US military can throw your ass in a dungeon somewhere for "suspected terror activities" with no trial, no evidence, etc.

And its a fucking shame. The same type of legislation was passed back in 1933 Germany as well.
Americans are not stupid, but our government has certainly been hijacked.

What is wrong with ensuring the safety of the people.
If something did go down, everyone wouldnt have thought it was so stupid after all.
besides, i assume they have some computer operational program that trolls the internet for key words such as those. Id say it was qite successful that they were able to find the exact people who posted that tweet. It doesnt have to be solely terrorism, it could be anything, preventing a school massacre maybe? after a sudden spurt of rage on a social network site. Whatever the case may be, it will be much more sophisticated and apparent in years to come, and things like this wont sound so stupid.

This ^^
Just think about it for a moment. If they had been terrorists, trying to cover there communication as a joke. Not to far fetched if the meanings are different in different countries.
If thousands of people were murdered at their hands, then you saw the tweet: you would be saying "stupid Americans, it was right in front of your face, but you were too busy (insert bitch of the day here)"
It is so easy to criticize someones actions when all is safe in your little free country bedroom. It is an unfortunate situation for the people affected, but not stupid by any stretch of the imagination.
Now the NDAA S.1867: That is a little over the top, but necessary for a reason created by the same people who created the NDAA.
The judicial system is so slanted towards protecting the alleged criminals that it takes too fucking long to process terrorists. Thousands of lives could be at stake while the lawyers haggle, play courtroom antics, then appeals, etc, etc.
Meanwhile, the terrorist plot continues, potentially killing people.
If they cleaned up the court system and stopped slapping people on the wrist for murder & rape, they would be able to process criminals faster, eliminating the need for the terrorist fast track - NDAA

I understand the desire to keep some kind of "mass-homicide" from happening, but preventative deterrence at gun point is not acceptable.
I do not believe that I am guilty until proven innocent by the state. We have civil rights for a reason and the bad people are always going to find a way to do bad things if they are motivated enough. You cannot solve violence with aggressive violence. This kind of power snowballs until the point where you have a gestapo or a stasi type police squad knocking on your door at 3am.
There's always a place for "self-defense" but these heavy handed terrorist prevention legislation usually just ends up failing horribly. Not a single US terrorist incident has been thwarted that couldn't have been stopped by conventional police action.

Have to wonder thou, how long until it reacts to keywords or statements such as... "Something is wrong, the goverment needs to change".
All I'm saying is, if history has always proved one thing right is that if it exists, someone will try to change/abuse it to suit their needs, whatever they are or might change to.

A more mundane point is why anyone would make jokes like that. It has no value and a clear risk.

...and this thread kids, very nicely demonstrate 2 sorts of people - people who dont mind be slaves if they are locked with even slight feeling of safety and people who realize that nothing is guaranteed and rather not give up their freedom and common sense for bullshit assurances.

And by the way, a better question is... Why the fuck should pleople be afraid to use common slang in messeages intended for friends/close ones to begin with?
I dont think you should have to moderate yourself becasue someone might be spying on you, that is wrong on so many levels.

you dont yell fire in a cinema
you dont yell bomb in a airport
if this was real, and a terrorist attack did go down
the next common sense phrase would be
you dont tweet destroy "insert random country" when you are a travelling foreigner
i would even say that if people start trolling that as a joke, american law will go trolol and beat down there ass, throw them in jail under suspicion. no one cares but you the one that thought you'd like to troll without consequences behind your computer screen. i wouldnt give a damn about your freedom, you pulled the joke/prank. much like if you call up some government agency and say there is a bomb in there building.
