I know this threads been long dead, but after playing the MK6 extensively for about 20 games now.
It has absolutely no value on the field other then vet for the enemy AT.
As previously stated the cromwell far out performs it in everyway beside being a damage soak, which is easily overcome by the slightest micro.
Perhaps a fresh view would be a ROF increase on its 6pdr, so that once it got into range it could bring some hurt but being so slow youd still be able to outrun it offroad.
just my 2 cents, which is about $1.28 US

Now that we're on the subject of Churchills, shall we agree that the recent changes made to the AVRE have made it the most useless tank ever to have graced the planet, like I said it would?

The officer is considerably better than a riflemen squad at carrying weapons.
Officers have good accuracy so they will hit most targets.

because of how they changed its warhead, it should be like the goliath explosion. If your caught it that radius your fucked.
Seeing as after it fires youve got 10 pop of fuck all on the field, even if its the only churchill still able to get mine flail.

When I used em, anything caught in the explosion WAS fucked, didn't they remove the penalties vs suppressed targets to?

Dafuq man, don't ask for proof if you'll refuse it if it's not in your favor, logic fallacy for the bloody win.

It was changed to be a marginally better StuH shell with a 90 second cooldown... It's just flat out crap.

But was it better before? I remember the thing being able to flat out miss suppressed targets. I never liked it before because it could be wildly inconsistent (just like the old stuh).
My only gripe is that if you land the shell on top of an ATG as opposed to behind it, the crew can survive the blast. But that's only the big problem I have with it. Giving it a damage modifier against ATG's to wreck basic ones in 1 hit might be worth considering.

Yes it was. It's a lot easier to NOT suppress your target than it is to suppress it before you hit it - and with the old splash you could actually kill stuff. Now you need to suppress the target AND hit it flat on to deal any significant level of damage.
Essentially the AVRE was changed from being a bit meh versus suppressed units to suppression becoming a requirement - increasing the minimal amount of effective popcap by 3. While reducing the damage output in general. It was a terrible, horrible change - and one of many drastic changes needs to be implemented in order to make the tank worth.. Well, anything.

I think it was common knowledge that if you saw an AVRE rolling up to the front lines, you knew that badboy was going to fuck shit up. It wasn't hard to dodge it's shot, considering if it had to rotate it's turret, it was slow as a tard.
After it's shot, the enemy team had 2 minutes to make a push, considering it was essentially a 10 pop paper weight, without having to fear of the doomsday shell. And it was a quite the handicap to the controlling player.
There was so many risks using it aswell. First it was slow, being a churchill. It could get pretty easily picked of by any anti-tank.
When you fired the shell, if it hit even a sandbag spot on, the whole shot was nullified. It damaged nothing, not even the sandbag. It was that iffy to fire the thing. If you fired it at an AT gun, if you hit the gun, everything survived, the gun the crew, you name it. It was a risk to use, mess up the shot, and it may as well have never shot at all.

I challenge you to find a thread on the AVRE that did anything other than lament it being shit even before the nerf.
